After im done my legal studies. Im going to take an Immigration consultant program. to get certified as an immigration consultant(another reason why i spend so much time on this forum learning things :P )
And I plan to focus on mexico, and latin america with spousal sponsorships, but also bringing over skilled nurses to work as caregivers and gain permanent residence this way. i grew up with two disabled brothers so we had live in caregivers from the phillipines since i was a baby. my mom has helped 10 nurses gain permanent residence in canada through this program. and now she has her own business helping phillipines nationals come to canada as caregivers.

ANYWAYS my point is, I plan to specifically deal with mexico and latin america, so i will be specialized to those countries!! :D
im hoping this will help me to know the procedures inside and out. and be able to actually help people without causing mistakes and delays!

;)

Cool! Once I immigrate, get my citizenship and help my parents immigrate I'll stay as far away as I can from any immigration department LOL!

missmymexi, it sucks that your lawyer was such an incompetent jerk. That was one of the reasons I stayed away from them, things will look better now that you're handling things on your own.

Update on my case: Nothing. >:( Yesterday was officially a week since I submitted my FBI police clearance. I'm hoping they either contact me this week or next one. How much time do you guys think I should give them before I start sending them emails and a case-specific enquiry?

Good luck with the landing!!! Let us know how it goes! :D What airport will he be landing at?

@edgar-I would wait maybe like a month or so and then start bothering them with emails! :D

Another thought is that since every country has so many different intricacies in terms of required documentation and the processes to obtain these documents, it probably is impossible for lawyers to know every country. I think that most of the immigration lawyers are probably generalists in terms of countries that they handle. It would be nice to have a lawyer that specializes in immigration for specific regions or countries. But there probably would not be enough work for them to sustain themselves if they specialize on a region or country. Just food for thought....

Here is the clincher ! His legal secretary is Mexican and he also specializes in latin America ! *cue chaotic laughter !!

:o :o :o Unbelievable! It seems like so many people involved in this process have no idea of what we go through while waiting every day. How can people be so careless?!

Congrats on starting a new chapter in your life! :D

Thanks everyone. We land in YYZ Thursday night.

Supposed to be leaving in two hours. No way my husband's suitcase will close - even with an elephant sitting on it. These Air Canada baggage fees are a killer too!!

I'll let you know all about landing and I'll be sticking around rooting for you all.

What are the fees for bags...we are going to be going by aircanada too, I think! And how many bags are you allowed? :)

I think west jet is much cheaper for baggage.
when we came to mexico we had 7 luggage.
2 free for each person. so that left us with 3 to pay for. and they only charges us around $50-60 for all 3.

seemed pretty cheap for 3 really large bags. :D

aww that would be nice! But we will be flying from mexico city and west jet doesn´t go there. :( I think pretty much the only option is aircanada (because that´s the only one that doesn´t go through the states).
