What does AOR mean?

If I'm not mistaken I think it means Acknowledge of Receipt. Basically when they notified you that they have received your application.

Thanks, Edgar. I think I asked this before, but want to verify before sending the application in. From what I understand, the police record check has 3 months validity... but I wonder.. does that mean when mississiauga first recieves the application, or by the time it gets to Mexico City and we recieve AOR.. because if thats the case it looks like were going to have to get another one :/

Example..

We got the state police check end of feb.. we are submitting the application mid april.. so already one month has past, leaving two months left - does anyone know if thats correct or have been in a similar situation??

I don't think it would be a big deal since you'll have to get the Federal one anyway, but don't take my word for it. I got mine like a week before mailing my application, because I was still in Tijuana and getting one was a joke, you'd just go, pay, wait about 3 hours and voilà.

Getting one in Cancun is not so simple.. when we went.. we had to wait in four different lines (the first day) each over an hour long, and then we had to come back two days later and pick it up and wait in another hour and a half long line.. Now we arent in Cancun anymore so we would have to send a family member, yikes. Hopefully someone has an answer for me, thanks for your input Edgar.

The Visa office notified my son in law of when to submit the police checks...the email came about 2 weeks before the email to set up his interview time. He took the completed forms to his interview with him. And yes, he waited for hours in Cancun too!!

I think theyre talking about the federal.. Im talking about the state one to go in with the initial application

BCmom, just reread your post.. so wait, do you mean your son in law did not submit any police check in the initial application?

That's right, he didn't submit either of them! They emailed him when it was time for him to do so...It took 10 business days for the federal one to be completed. His mother dropped it off for him with the proxy he sent to her, and than the day before his interview he picked it up and took it in with him and presented it at the interview.

Oh wow, thats interesting because it is a requirement to send it in with the initial application.. maybe this is a newer requirement(?) Anyways, glad it worked out well for them :) Before we left the police station, we got the list of things needed for someone else to get the state police check for my SO .. So if they request a newer one, will just have to send someone!

Not that I am advertising or endorsing airlines but I just saw an amazing fare to Cancun from Toronto... $199 round-trip all taxes included leaving on friday, returning a week later... It's too bad I'm not from Cancun. I have never seen that number. Close was $287 from Toronto to Mexico City about 4 years ago...

Just a quick thank you to all of you who sent the lovely supportive PM's. My apologies for not responding to each of you! I really do know that this sh*t too, shall pass! Cheers :)

That is actually really good! Cancun is beautiful, I love it there. I have lived there for a good period of time..I wish the situation in Mexico was better, I would live in Cancun in a heartbeat!

Hey was just wondering if any of you have some experience with this or have any info...

My husband has a Bachelor´s degree from a private university here in Mexico...in International Commerce, he has his cedula profesional and everything. We are thinking it probably won´t be valid in Canada. But where can I go to find out for sure? Or is there like a course he could take to make it valid in Canada? Should he get his degree translated here etc...? I just have no idea even where to start looking to find out more about this.

Thanks!

CIC's website has info on getting your foreign credentials recognized. Probably easy to find in the federal skilled worker section. Was his university accredited?
