I am trying to extend my study permit in Canada. I also applied for PR some years ago and I am still waiting. Regarding my military, I did not serve in the military and I just did a research project and they gave me the proof of completion of my military service. So, I answered "No" to the questions regarding the military service in my initial study permit, visa, and also PR applications.

My US visa (B1 Business/Conference) was refused for going to conference in May 2016 under section 214(b). Because I answered "No" to the question regarding the military service in the application forms. When the US officer in the interview asked me about the military, I told him that I did not serve in military but I did a project and got the completion of my military card (it was my mistake I guess). And he refused my visa.

For the new study permit extension application, I want to answer "No" to military question the same as before. Now, I'm very worried because if I answer "Yes" to the question "Have you ever been refused a visa or permit, denied entry or ordered to leave Canada or any other country?" in the study permit extension forms, I need to explain possibly about why I was rejected. So, it is possible because of the "info sharing" between Canada and US they can have access to my application and they thought that there is a misrepresentation regarding my military and they refuse my new study permit and also PR applications.

If I answer "No" to this question, my concern is based on the "info sharing" they will find out about my US visa rejection and I think it is going to be dishonesty as well.

Now the questions are:

1) Is there any "info sharing" between Canada and US and are they able to access all the information in my US application without my permission?

2) What is the best thing I can do now?

Regards,

Information sharing between the US and Canada is extensive. If you answer "no" to the question about whether you have ever been refused a visa, expect your lie to be caught, your application to be refused, and to be issued a five year ban from Canada.
