Applied May 25, 2025, AOR June 25. Still no test invitation, status just says “In progress.” Others who applied later already got test invites. Is this normal, or should I do something?
Call em, take gcms note …

Got my GCMS notes

CIT CSIS Screening started (edit: “received”) Aug 28

Status for screening says “received” so I guess my file will be stuck forever

Very weird stuff, will apply for CSIS notes too

Update: seems like “received” means they have already received results from CSIS? If that’s the case then they are just incompetent…

Thanks for your advice. I called IRCC, and they told me my application is at the Vancouver office. I mentioned that many people who applied after me have already completed their applications, but they said citizenship applications are not processed on a first-come, first-served basis and that it can take more than a year. I’m wondering how ordering GCMS notes could help in this situation. Please advise. Thanks.

Patience is really the only thing that helps. They are right, every applicant’s situation is different, and file processing does not follow a first come first served order. GCMS notes do not speed things up, but they do provide detailed insight into the status of your file. The good part is that they only cost $5 and are easy to request. The downside is that GCMS notes will not actually influence your case and usually take about a month to arrive. Give it a try.

Incompetent indeed. The system is far from efficient, and unfortunately, it’s the applicants who end up paying the price with endless waiting. :(

If you request through privacy act, it costs 0, and requesting through CBSA is faster, frequently resulting in more complete information too.

Is the process different for obtaining GCMS from CBSA as opposed to IRCC?
