@legalfalcon Do you or anyone know if IRCC will be working during lockdown?
They have limited resources to effectively manage their operations

It seems the IRCC COVID-19 backlogs were mainly caused by 2 things. The first was the inability to get people into mailrooms to open applications. The second is that IRCC apparently works in shifts using shared workstations, and there wasn't enough "equipment" to take home.

I called IRCC today.
Before this I called 3 times and they said everything passed-and security pending.
Today they said everything is up to date and just one thing is there which they are working on since May....
Do you think that can be security?

IRCC is working but only on priority cases, which is evident form the delays in all business lines of IRCC. IRCC is currently prioritising family reunification, spousal sponsorship and essential workers. Due to VAC closures around the globe and Ottawa being a red zone fora long time and now the shutdown in the entire ON province, there will be delays and there are many unknowns.

People on the forum have been quoting a tweet from an immigration lawyer which was:

The tweet mentions the meeting on the Standing committee on Immigration and Citizenship held on December 2, 2020.

The question was about the Acknowledgement of Receipt for QC skilled workers who had filed paper based application.

The second response was where the Deputy Minister is responding about lack of equipment, which was in response to

There will be some progress, it is not that things are just completely shut, but don't expect too much. However, once the lockdown are eased and the vaccination is widespread, you will see some movement and also relaxation of travel restrictions.

They only issue those invites just to meet their financial goals 10,000 invites in one month is = 10,000*1400= $14 million. They don’t care about whatever backlog they have they only care about the money
The only thing that irritates me is y ircc is inviting 5000 applicants bi weekly and back logging current applications. Definitely covid is a big excuse for everbody .
