My background check was completed on September 25 2019. I was scheduled in error for a test in December 2019 but when I call they say that there are notes on my file saying it was an error and it was removed. I have no idea why it would be non routine tbh everything is pretty normal to me which is what they say every time I call as well. Do you think yours is non routine?
Some used to email the local office saying its pending for 2 years.
Some used to send letters to local office to review the file with the note its pending for 2 years.
If nothing works then take chances on applying second time. No movement for 2 years is as good as not applied at all. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/canadian-citizenship/admininistration/general-file-processing/procedure-multiple-applications.html

Why applying again and have the uncertainty of waiting even more!!! Get a lawyer and file for mandamus. It’s the only effective measure you can take to move your application. You will notice movement of your case in 1-2 months.

Seems many lawyers are not taking cases unless 3+ years. Confusion. Yes may be people can wait for one more year and file it in worst case.

They should use experienced lawyer with numerous experience in mandamus. According to SSLAW in Calgary which one of its partner (Raj Sharma) talked in the recent cbc news about the delays one can seek mandamus after 12 months if no meaningful update received. I will go for mandamus if I don’t receive any update in 2 years. Ground for mandamus is really high now as based on the stats many late 2020 and early 2021 applicants already received oath invite so the covid aline is not an excuse. However, based on my experience if a group of people approach a law firm, they can get a very good discount on their individual mandamus.

perhaps someone can make a new thread and ask whoever wants to proceed with the lawfirm for mandamus. Plus I already applied again. Lets see what they do with my new application.

I think I’m going to go see a lawyer this week. I’m scared if I apply again it’ll take double the time can’t imagine waiting 4 years!

I saw a lawyer today.
He said that my case is ideal for filing Mandamus.
He told me to see my MP first to request for an update and then depending on what response we get we will go ahead with the Mandamus.
He has filed many before and says that usually a letter from a lawyer stating the intent of filing a Mandamus is enough to get the application going.
He said that he has never had to go to court once.
Let’s see what happens next! Fingers crossed

When did you submit your application, and in what stage is it?

May 2019. Background verification is complete. Waiting for a test date.
I am in the exact situation except I applied in April!
When you check the status of your application in the new tracker when was the last time it was updated?
Also, I sent you a message, feel free to reply if you'd like.

I have made FB Group for 2019 (& Earlier) applicants who have NOT yet received test invite.

Purpose of the group is to Advocate for prioritizing Citizenship applications of 2019 (& before) that have not yet received a test invite. Have collective strategy to raise voice on Social Media, contact MPs, and any other available forum / remedy (including Mandamus).
Let's join hands and raise collective voice, else we might have to wait for another year or two.

If you are one of the forgotten ones, Let's join hands and raise collective voice. https://www.facebook.com/groups/255961366443064
Just Joined the group on Facebook
