Shouldnt take that long for smaller cities. Have you tried calling them. There is no logic behind it, but I have seen progress on all my files after I called CIC agent. Again, no logic but it always worked for me.

Does anyone have any idea why CIC takes freakin soooooooooo much time for Citizenship as compared to PR. For PR, where one needs hundreds of documents, they process applications in 6 months or less but for Citizenship where the # of documents are negligible they take double or triple the time. It absolutely makes no sense at all!!!!

NEED YOUR ADVICE
Montreal office
Definitely call cic and ask if all the background checks are done because tht could be the only reason your file is still in process and decision isn’t made yet but still call and find out what’s going on just for your own assurity

Anyone have luck with determining the best time to call? I've called 4-5 times this morning, and every time it just says we're busy and it disconnects.

I think its because the stream for Express Entry is one of the fastest ones. When applying for citizenship, you have to realize there it includes ALL permanent residents from ALL the streams. At least, that what makes sense to me.

Imagine dating someone vs marrying. When you start dating you may be processing so many qualities but you don't take that long before you update your fb status. When you are getting married you are almost there with just one document to consider but you will take so much more time and effort, involve so many people (community, faith, law, family) before you are officially married. Turning off a bf/gf status (deporting a PR) is easy, not so much with the latter. So due diligence is required because you can't blame anyone else. :)
Ofcourse there are exceptions. If you claim asylum (get pregnant) and jump the hoop
