I know, it's crazy. This is the first contact I've received from cic, weren't they supposed to send me mail saying they've actually gotten the application?
Actually, I received a letter in the mail in August saying I forgot to sign one of the papers. I sent that in the next day. A while after that I sent email asking if things are cool because I haven't heard a word, no aor, no sponsorship approval, nothing. In the response they told me my papers have recently been transferred to London so I knew they'd approved me to sponsor. I don't know what the heck took them so long to inform me of it :O And trust me, I've been pretty much a nervous wreck reading about others already landing, someone getting sponsorship approval in a few days, another getting through the whole process in a few months..... aaaargh!

lehaju: I probably understand what a PAIN you have been going thru !! wow!! This must made you a 'stronger' person by now? I believe

Did I just break a record? Here's an email I just received today. 3 days short of 7 months after my application was received in Mississaugua:

This refers to the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class you submitted to this office on behalf of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and family (if applicable).

You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing.

Seriously. How bad is that? :O

I thought my wait was bad.

Just checked out the CIC wait times for sponsorship. In May it was 90 days it is now down to 35. This will bottleneck the VO's.

Couldn't have said it better myself CJG. Having been 1 that benefited from a fast May application, the 2nd stage wait has been horrific and I really do fear for these people who have been approved in super quick time when the problem obviously now is with the VO's. A fast 1st stage approval has done nothing for me. I do hope others do benefit from a quick 1st stage though.

Yes, I agree. I have been thinking about this. Some VOs sort the applications in order they receive them in the VO, some others (like Ankara) deal with the applications in the order they were received in CPC-M. So even though we were also like you in terms of having the luck of a speedy 1st stage, we got hit by the backlog created by all the files transferred. Despite the fact that it's really hard to wait for us, I think it's really fair that they are dealing with the apps in the order they were received in CPC-M.

Of course, with Ankara, we also have the issue of anther VO (Damascus) closing down due to the situation in Syria and a lot of the backlog from that office ended up in Ankara. This drove up the processing time from the 5 months for 80% it was before to it's current 16months in less than 6 months, but that's totally different story!

Thanks a lot. It's been quite the struggle and I have absolutely no clue why it's taken so long. You can only imagine how frustrated we've been waiting to hear something, especially considering we have 5 small children, not the easiest crowd to move to a new country not knowing at all when the move could possibly take place ???

Canadianjeepguy I'm pretty certain our wait pretty much breaks the records. I noticed you had to wait quite the while too. Hopefully no one else has such a brutally long stage 1 !!

I was just looking around the other threads and someone in the October thread got SP approval in THREE days. THREE!!! I really should be pleased for them but the green monster inside me just won't allow it.

Sometimes, I wish I had applied later. It just seems like we got the worst month.

Argh!

I can understand your frustration Bonitanita the wait times in late Feb, March, April, May and some of June were ridiculous. I honestly would not wish that chaos on anybody and as bad as the comparison is between now and back then, in reality 30 days for 1st stage approval sounds pretty swift and fair, now 3 days is electric. It does go to show how quick it can be done and they probably look at the file for about 1 hour in the 1st stage.

What I am very curious to see though is......... All these uber fast 1st stage approvals, will just bottle neck at the relevant VO's and may sit a lot longer than what the earlier 2012 applicants had to wait. I will be curious to see in June, if December has been processed at the relevant VO's OR as I suspect what may happen, they just sit there gathering dust as their is not enough IO's to process so many applicants that have sped through stage 1. I guess time will tell. :P

Have not you called to CIC to know about your sponsorship approval since you have reached the given time by CIC? OMG!! 7 month?

I'll be keeping an eye out to poke in and have a look as I'm curious too. We'll see...
