may i know your timeline?

Do you have to go in person to Manila to get your visa? Is this a special case when the medicals are expiring soon and you have to present a ticket to them? Or has everybody gone to CEM to pick up their visa? It's a plane ride for us.

My medical will expire soon.. in april 19.. so they ask me if i can fly before april 19
yes.. i must bring with me my booking ticket.. i think im lucky to don't redo my medical..
and yes.. there is a lot cases same in my situation that they pick up their visa personally in CEM'..

Hi there, this is my first posting. I have applied to sponsor my common law husband through a consultant. ECAS indicates appl was rec'd June 4 2012. A letter dated Nov 21, 2012 rec'd by the consultant Dec 20th 2012, indicates they need further proof re: common law relationship for at least 1 year prior to application date, and they also requested his medical and police check at the same time. We had the declaration notarized, 6 letters from friends and family as well as each of us, proof of bank accounts, join vehicles we own together - this was all the proof we sent in. I own my home so I can't have him on any mortgage paperwork until it renews. We do have a son together, who was born in June 2012. Current ECAS states:

We received your application for permanent residence on June 4, 2012.

We started processing your application on February 26, 2013.

Will we be getting any info on the medical being received as well, or is it assumed its been received based on the status change ? Our consultant told us its a good sign that they asked for his medial and police check up front, on top of the "more proof of common law" stuff they required.

Any thoughts ?

Wow they're really screwing things up with our application. Sponsorship approval took 7 months. Then, a couple of months later we get a letter in the mail asking for medicals. That's fine, other than the fact that the medicals were done and sent in already last summer. A call to the physician proved our medicals were sent. The physician contacted the visa office and they then found our medicals which had already been assessed and approved :O I sent email with our medical id number and now received confirmation that we DON'T need another medical exam. However, it's been 10months since we sent in our application and I'm starting to get a bit frustrated Our flights are booked for the middle of june and we're kind of running out of time here!!!

How many of you have sent an enquiry about your application? All of our applications have passed the normal process time haven't they?

The processing time has changed to 12 months from the time of sponsorship approval. Hate to break the bad news to you. Your June flight may still be do-able but I would look into seeing if you can move your departure date.

Where did you find that information from? The last time i checked the processing time was 9 months from sponsorship approval. Not that that helps me though, because it took 7 months to get sponsorship approval since our papers were lost somewhere who knows where. Count 9 months from there and we're looking at SEPTEMBER :O :O I think i'm gonna die.


Now that brings me to my question: is it out of question for us to travel to canada while our papers are still being processed?

You can check processing times through the CIC website. I was assuming your VO was Manila.

I wouldn't rely on ecas. It seems to changed after you've been informed via email or regular post. My sponsorship was approved last October but it says "in process".
From what I've read on this site the London VO moves pretty quickly.
