Mary nga ba or Carol? Hahaha! But I'm sure about her surname. The seminar lasted from 8am-6pm and it's all worth it!

If you're under FSW category, do attend CIIP. Tapos na rin kami ng hubby ko dito and very useful/ informative. Tutulungan tayo ng CIIP until after makahanap ng work or di pa makahanap ng work.

I have a schedule now for COA and CIIP. For COA, the person replying in text message told me that its ok if I dont have a yellow flyer and a visa, I just need to bring the medical request letter from the CEM. Me and my husband will have our seminar for COA on Feb 28 and April 6-7 for CIIP :)

Hi nursemich! How did you register for CIIP seminar? I only have MR din eh. Thanks

And just to update you with the Seminar that we have attended, here are the details.

The Canadian Orientation Abroad (COA) organized by IOM - International Organization for Migration. Their address is

24th Floor Citibank Tower
8741 Paseo de Roxas
Makati City

When we got there, we only presented a valid ID to get a visitor's pass. Then at their office, I presented our Medical request since we do not have a yellow flyer and a visa yet. A yellow flyer will be mailed to us once our passport came back after visa stamping.

The seminar was 8 hours and ultimately informative. The facilitator started by asking us where is our destination and told us to group ourselves based on our destined province, so we had a chance to talk to them during the break. I met one who is going to leave tomorrow, the other couple is under PNP who were petitioned by their children.

The topics were multitudinous, the speaker discussed everything we must know about going to Canada:

General Info about Canada
What to bring and not to bring
The process once you land at the airport
What are first things you must do when you arrived
Culture Shock
Employment
About your child's education
Benefits
Taxes, Housing, Food
Seasons : How to prepare for the winter
Traits and Practices of Canadians

It's Seminar that you would recommend to everyone - a must to attend! They also showed video clips, though outdated but still applicable and informative. :D

At the end of the session, we were given a certificate with a lot of pamphlets and booklets with topics of what were discussed. ;D The coffee and tea are free flowing and there's a snack in am and pm. :P And it's all free! Just to compare with PDOS which has a fee of P400 and I don't know if you can even have a sip of a coffee. :o

I suggest that you attend this as early as possible so you can have a lot of preparation. Me and my husband just realized that its not easy to migrate there. :'(

We need a lot of strength, determination, willpower and all the other aspects that are needed to succeed in Canada. :D

Bring with you paper and pens for your lecture, and a jacket if you easily get cold. Children below 12 are not recommended to attend, they'll get bored but coloring books are given out for them.

Very informative nursemich... thank you very much..

Tips before landing here in Canada.
Guys if possible may relative/friend kayo na susundo sa airport at tutuluyan while looking for room/apt to rent.

Hi love20. When you receive the MR di ba may kasamang CIIP info yun. You may also check this CIIP info.

Di ako sure kung nashare ko na ito: we had our PDOS on April 5. 400 pesos each ang registration fee. Our baby was exempted from the seminar but required to be registered also so nagbayad din kami for him. Ang daming attendees. We arrived 8am and after the registration process, ilang seats na lang ang available sa seminar. We are at their mercy because we need the CFO sticker. Imagine, we can't fly without their sticker! Kahit daw magmakaawa pa tayo sa immigration officer, we won't be allowed to board the plane. Hays.

thanks.

hello guys...happy easter!!!
thanks...

I read the FAQs on CFO website on "Who are allowed to register at the CFO-NAIA Office?". Two of the given answers apply to my case:

1. Filipino emigrants with permanent residence visa issued abroad who will be exiting from the Philippines
(Our visa was issued at Kuala Lumpur office but the flight we have is KUL-MNL-YVR)
2. Emigrants whose visas will expire within three (3) working days of their issuance
(Our scheduled departure date is Oct. 26, visa expires Oct. 28)

Do you think I can get CFO stamp without attending PDOS given the reasons above?

Yup, ready your 400 pesos for your baby. Ganda di ba? May bayad na, wala namang free snacks man lang or coffee. Hahaha! ;D Ang POF ko, sa Bank of Commerce nakatabi, since the start of my application (2005). Less than 10K dollars, ang charge nila is 7.50 or 5.50 dollars yata. No hidden charges na yun. 21 days daw ang clearing.

Rene,
