Lost my current PR card while in the process of renewing one. What should I do?

I have recently lost my current PR card and at the same time I have submitted my PR renewal application few months ago. I was told that if I am to collect my new PR card at the office, I will have to surrender my current PR card as well. At the same time, it doesn't make much sense if I apply for replacement since the application is similar to the PR renewal application. I am really worried that they might not give me the renewed PR card since I do not have my old PR. I am just wondering what should I do next? Thanks

Call them and let them know that you have lost your existing PR card. Letting them know of your lost PR card is very important.
Then, ask them how to proceed with the situation of surrendering the old PR card at the time of collecting the new one when you have already lost the old one.
