PR Card Renewal Disruption of Canada Post services

I am posting this one to share past experience and what will happen on my PR card renewal because of the Canada Post strike.

I submitted my PR card renewal request through online portal on Sep 10. I already booked a travel to other Punta Canada from Dec 4th. I'd like to share any useful information what I should do about it to make sure I can get my PR card in time.

Contact Canada Post and ask if they are processing/delivering Government mail. I see that they are delivering Government checks, but not sure about PR Cards.

It may also depend, in part, on whether or not your mail is delivered to a community type mail box, versus home delivery to your home.

Worst case scenario, you have to apply for a PRTD (which can apparently be submitted before you leave Canada).

This confirms that applying for a PRTD from Canada does work for vacation travel...at least it did for this user. The reason for the expidited PRTD was under the `Other' option and was still approved:

I declared that I was in Canada. They need your passport to stamp it with the PRTD. so you have to go to a VAC to give them your passport so they can stamp it. I have never heard of a passport getting loss. I applied for urgent processing because i...
