Looking to go Canada but previous Australian ban?

Hi could anyone help me out, I previously had a 3 year ban in Australia although it is part of commonwealth also, my ban Is up i am just wondering can i apply for Canadian visa now other thing is I have a fine in place in Australia over my departure and will that effect my chances of getting into Canada, I am Irish and i am as carpenter looking a working visa tbanks

Reason for ban was for overstaying on visa, do i just apply and see what they say i wouldn't want to be told i could go fly whole way over just to.get turned down at airport
