Hello, my name is Brandon. I am a Canadian citizen looking to sponsor my wife from the United States. I more or less have a question for those who already submitted their applications. Back in June, my wife and I submitted our application for spousal sponsorship. It was paper based and sent via Canada post, so I knew when the application was delivered. It has almost been 3 months, and although I don't expect anything to be completed, I was curious if I was suppose to get some sort of confirmation of some sort. When I try to call for information, the automatic system asks for an application number, (which I don't have) when I log into my CIC account looking to link the paper application, the results don't show when I run a search of my wife's application. At the beginning of July, my wife came down for a visit and was held for questioning at the Ottawa airport on arrival. The individual checked her story and mentioned she was in the system, or was pending or something. It led us to believe everything was on track. Could he have just been saying that? How did he search the info?

Can anyone tell me of their experiences, just so my wife and I are a little more at ease with the whole situation. We don't want to worry, but as you can imagine, this is a very important matter.

Thanks.

You should have received AOR within 8 ish weeks, maximum. Have you checked junk mail? 1-888-242-2100, hit 2, 1, 1, 0 to get through to an agent and find out if your application was sent back.

If you submitted your application in June, then it hasn’t been two months yet. You can expect to receive an acknowledgment of receipt email within 6-8 weeks of submitting your application if it is complete. Right now they’re working on applications received in mid June

Thanks everyone for your responses. It has technically been just over a month a bit, and that's if they looked at the application the day it was delivered. We are a little more at ease now and we will be on the lookout for this AOR in the next couple weeks.

Thanks a bunch.

I'm confused. In your post, it says you submitted in June, but you also said it has been almost 3 months? Am I missing something?

AOR takes 6+ weeks

Sorry for the confusion. I had no idea what day it was. But everything seems to be adding up and making a little more sense now.
