Can I have 2 LMO's at the same time? If I have an employee now who will work until November and a new employee who will start in December, can I apply for an LMO/visa now for the new one but then the visa issue date and LMO start date will just say "Effective December 2011" for my new employee? If my new employee ( who is currently in canada) leaves for a holiday back to her home country and returns to start work from the effective date of the new visa, is this OK???

You can't apply for the new LMO now as all LMOs expire 6 months from the date of issue. If you want someone to start December 1, 2011, apply about 4 months before that date for the new LMO.

Cindy,

I think you should call HRSDC for instruction. I think you can do it since LMO is aimed at getting WP and it'd be stupid to have to apply for a new WP in few months again. But, it is my personal view!

Too early to apply for a new LMO. Start the process in September.
- advertisement is 14 days minimum
- sign contract then apply for LMO - processing is 3 - 6 weeks (more or less)
- let prospective employee apply for WP (3-6 weeks processing time, currently 40 days)

If the process goes faster than expected, the new employee can wait till your current employee leaves.
