Different circumstances, sorry let me explain myself better.

Right now, IEC awaiting LMIA, no implied status so not working.

get Lmia, start application for PR, LMIA expires (1 year) once my lmia expires will i then have implied status while a decision is being made for PR?

It really depends on the sequence of events. However applying for PR alone won't give you implied status.

Let's say that you get one year of qualifying work experience for CEC (for example) before your LMIA based work permit expires. You apply for CEC and receive AOR, again before your LMIA based work permit expires (it typically takes around 3 months after you apply for CEC to get AOR). If you have less than 4 months left on your work permit, you can then apply for a bridging open work permit (BOWP). You'll have implied status until the BOWP is approved.

So basically, instead of the hassle of having to get bridge permits and what not, i should just go straight ahead and apply for PR through CEC and get it out the way as quick as possible and then be done with it?

Yeah i agree with that too :P

Thanks!

But again, just to be clear, applying for CEC alone won't give you implied status.

Gotcha! I'll cross that bridge when it comes.

If and once my LMIA is approved, ill probably start applying for PR in january. giving me about 9 months until my lmia expires.

Should be enough time, in theory!

I'm
Thinking of playing the system in a sense that I will apply for PR within the last month of my lmia. That way I can extend my stay regardless.

Don't risk, if you get lmia before January 1st, 2015 you will be awarded with maximum points for express entry among other candidates and most of us with lmia will be the first invited to apply for PR. Check news on CiC they are already preparing everything to launch Express Entry in January, 2015

Just to be perfectly clear - if you do the above, you'll end up with a long period of time (many months) where you won't be able to work since you won't have AOR from the CEC application before your work permit expires and therefore won't be able to apply for a BOWP. This means you'll have to stop working as soon as your work permit expires (no implied status) and wait out the processing of your CEC application without working. Bad idea to try to play the system. It usually doesn't work out in your favour...

I'd recommend you do a lot more reading about the rules. It doesn't sound like you understand them.

Yeah, I got it the first time around with your response. Thanks.

Kik is right, with the express entry you dont need to worry much. People with an approved LMIA will be given preference. So dont think of the implied status and stuff.

Express entry... they encourage if you qualify for PR this year, lodge your application this yr. You need to wait for letter of invitation for PR. THey do not issue automatically a letter. In the old system, once you submitted an application you wil get a file number and that is an assurance no matter what. That file number can give you a license to apply for work permut extension in replacement if LMIa or ipen work permit 4 months prior to expiry of your work permit. Just some of ideas i have read. That is what mercan told me as well

Sorry for typo errors. New phone still not get used to this.

Hah, new cell phones, always the worst.

I get what you mean, I've been looking into it. Looks good. Hoping to have my LMO locked down in the next week or so should have it before the jan 1st deadline

Update:

My employer told me today that the payment has been taken last week. I guess that means I got file number the same day.
