Can someone help me understand - SC / CIC has rolled out fsw and will roll out express entry - where are they are ready to issue PRs for folks without a job. But they are reluctant to issue temporary work visas (lmia + work permit) with job offers. This is hard to understand. Anyone has a good explanation

Hey. We all know that its frustrating to wait and wonder and get rejected and all that but its a lot more complex than that. Furthermore under the present FSW people without job offers can apply for residency. Express entry will simply prioritise who gets into Canada rather than the present first come first serve process. It will ensure that the workers with the skills needed immediately get in more quickly even if they weren't the first to apply.

We'll have all the details soon. January is almost here.

As much as we might not like it, the concept is that the former are coming as immigrants, so basically permanent workforce, while the latter is supposed to be for temporary only workers

SINP is going to update on 1st Jan. But I do not think there should be something bad for applicants. Rather they will have more number of quota available. So Basically you can apply under EE or SINP. Both options should be available to you I guess.

I kind of hope seeing how this year's quote wasn't even close to getting reached, that they'll drop the points needed from 60 to something a bit better. We'll see soon enough I guess.

I've come to realise this forum is now talking about all immigration processes as nobody is receiving LMIAs... Someone must get one approved this week!

I hope that my officer is back from Cuba or wherever she has been past two weeks, and that she will finally pick up her phone :(

Only your employer / lawyer can call them. I remember jaybaker saying he was on hold for 35 minutes and they wouldn't speak to him.

Yeah, some privacy laws, only the employer can call.

Exactly the reason i asked lol. It seems my employer called and they mentioned the waiting time is 55 mins

A couple of weeks ago my employer called and they stated that it was a 45 minute wait - so he thought I'll go get a coffee etc. then he got through after 5 minutes! Think they just do a standard message to make people not bother holding sometimes. The longest wait my employer has had is 10 minutes.

Just got message LMIA rejected from my employer. They did everything correctly but there was to much Canadians applying for the job (108).

My employer will not apply for a new one since he has a feeling that they are rejecting lot of them and there is a big chance it will be rejected again.

So sorry to hear. Seems every week or so we get a result. So far I've counted 1 approval (Jay) and 2 rejections. Makes me nervous. What are your plans going forward @ calgarypr?

I think we work for the same employer! Mine was also rejected last week for a similar reason. It sounds like they are just trying to find reasons to reject them at the moment.
