Hello all. These are probably question asked many times. I tried searching! so many replies.

I am Canadian citizen living in the UK with my wife for 13 years now and have a child born here. I have already registered my child as Canadian. My wife is British and so need to sponsor wife to Canada.

I am looking at the forms and sponsor requirements. At present I have a job offer letter from a company in Vancouver. I have a sister who lives there and perhaps she can provide an accommodation letter. I know in the UK a survey of the property must the provided to show there is no over-crowding. I am not sure if that is case with Canada? Are there any template letter I can show my sister she can write the letter similar.

When I look at the sponsor evaluation I see the income section and wonder what to do there. I am no living in Canada and obviously I would lose my income in UK upon moving. I am self-employed here and can provide accounts and bank statements to show this. But wonder if I just need to put 'N/A'? Any advice here welcome.

Rest of forms seem standard stuff. Wife and I will have to try and remember our dates and put in the photos of marriage and holidays and child birth-certificates.

How can I check which is the best office to send the forms to for fast processing as I want to start my new job ASAP.

Cheers for any assistance.
Salik.

You don't need to have an income or job for the spousal sponsorhsip. But CIC does want to see proof that you will be moving back to Canada once process is over. Your job offer in Vancouver will come in handy for that, definitely provide a copy. Also print out some apartment/house searches for the area you want to live in. Maybe get some quotes for shipping all your belongings from the UK to Canada. And letters from friends and family confirming your plans to relocate to Canada are good as well.

I strongly suggest you file an OUTLAND sponsorship. Those applications for applicant from visa exempt countries (UK!) are processed fairly quickly. I've seen some done in less than 6 months.

You first need to send your whole package to the processing office in Mississauga, and once you are approved as a sponsor, they will forward your application to the right office.

Hope this helps!

No, it isn't the same. There is no template. She should just write a simple letter stating she will provide your family with accommodation, food etc. when you return to Canada.

You need to put your UK income and employment information; it just needs to be correct as of the time you send the app. Do not put N/A, as it most definitely applies to you.

You don't get to choose. Your app will go to Mississauga and they will then forward it on to either Ottawa or London. You are looking at around 6-9 months.

I suggest you join the London outland thread and have a look at the spreadsheet.

Thanks for all that info.

BTW: Which criminal check is required. the basic or standard? Its not that clear to me. A basic can be done through the disclosure Scotland but the standard requires an employer and we are both self-employed.

Follow the instructions on the CIC site:

Specifically for the UK:

Just a little item. But have got friends and family writing support letters. Should they also send a copy of ID? I ask this because that is the process in the UK.

Understand the my parents should send a notarised letter of support.

I only just started filling in forms and new forms are coming out. Any ideas if using old forms will be slower?

No, they don't need to submit their ID.

Using the old forms should not affect the processing time.

Hello again.

Just a silly question on these new forms. I see this

The principal applicant, his or her spouse or common-law partner, if applicable, and all dependant children aged 18 years or older listed in the application for permanent residence must complete their own copy of this form
on form IMM 5669 (11-2016) I take it that I and my wife need to fill out one each?

on form IMM 0008 (12-2016) there is a similar for the dependants which reads
You must include your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable, and all your dependent children, and those of your spouse of common-law partner, who are not already permanent residents or citizens of Canada
Here I am not sure if I need to list myself as a "dependant". Our child is already a citizen of Canada so does not need listing.

Unfortunately I lived here all this time and didn't bother getting any bills in joint names. though we have council tax (poll tax) in joint names and letters from HMRC in joint names. House is only in wife's name as she owned it prior to marriage but we joint own a commercial property. I was going to put a copy of that joint title in as well as our addresses are on it.
plus driver licences, car insurance and voter cards and my company details where wife and I are listed (with our addresses) in the company details. Should suffice to overcome the lack of utility bills in joint names?

thanks,
Salik.

The application clearly divides sponsor and applicant forms. IMM5669 is an applicant form.

Canadians can't be dependents. You are not listed on IMM0008.

Those proofs should be sufficient. Include a letter explaining that she already owned the house prior to the relationship.

We could not get a hold of the wife's birth certificate. Though she is a British Citizen she was not born in the UK and her brith country does not have mandatory registration. Best we could do is get a school record..but that would require us to go to the country to get it.

When she came to the UK she came on her mother's passport - children at that time could not get their own passports. So all her details in the UK are from that passport. and also her naturalisation used those details.

So we just had to explain this situation. Best we could do is her expat card from that country.

Will they ask for this if it is absolutely needed or will they reject the application back?

If they definitely need it, they will request it.

My application was received by CIC on about Feb 10. I haven't received even a AOR. So I sent a query to their online form on March 7 and 4 weeks later I got this reply.

"While examining your file, we can notify you that the situation you have reported in your Web form of March 7, 2017, has received further clarifications in the form of a correspondence that was sent to you on our behalf. We invite you to consult the correspondence in order to obtain more information."
Have checked the email accounts of me and wife and nothing has come in nor anything by post. This is really odd. Their usual vague language as well.

So I've sent another query stating that we've still not got anything and to send this correspondence by signed-for post to ensure we get it.

Anyone else have this experience?

Check your spam folders. You can also request your GCMS notes, though it takes 30 days to receive them. Have you tried linking your account?

Checked all SPAM folders and can see nothing from CIC in there.
However, SPAM folders only contain last two weeks of emails.

What would I need to link my account as I've not got an application number, UCI or anything yet.
