I don't know why the processing for LICP's OWP/PR is taking so long. I don't know why from a 6 – 9 months processing time it ridiculously went up to 15 – 17 months. I don't know whats going on with the system?

But I do know that lives are being severely affected by this incompetence. People lives are put on a hold as a result of this. While we patiently waits for our freedom from this bondage, the uncertainties of the future scares us. What if we got sick? How do we get a medical attention without a document supporting our existence in this place? How much longer do we have to wait to be reunited with our families we haven't seen for years?

Work is hard as it is. But working thousand miles away from home is even harder. I know it was our choice...but have we not patiently hurdled through it in 2 years? Working minimum wage for a job nobody in this country would take. Are those efforts not enough? Have we not earned anything from that? Its an unending race – that is how most of us feels. Just as we thought that the finish line is just around the bend, we ran towards it only to find out it is still far from over. When do we see the end of this? When do we get that “better life” we promised our family back home? We are all tired, worn out and broken.

And while we worked our butt earning our status in this country, some people simply get theirs getting here on a boat. How fair is that? This is not right. Something needs to be done.

hello... you're RIGHT... as a live-in caregiver, i can say, is that they gave us a contract and after 24 months we can apply for permanent residency, we did our part, we're finished and we done it holistically, more than what they expected from us! It's time for them to do their part too... i wish they will be fair to all caregivers... good luck to both of us... :)
