Let share Preparations/Timelines for 2015 Live In Caregiver PR/OWP Applications

Hi,

Just like to ask. Can you apply for OWP/PR 2 weeks before the expiration of your WP? I'm planning to apply thru option 2. my employer didn't want to renew our contract hence i cant extend my permit. I completed the required hours but my 2015 NOA wont be arriving until the next 2 weeks. my permit will expire on june 4. any suggestions?

Yes you can and YOU MUST. If you apply before the expiration of your work permit you will be under IMPLIED STATUS, that is you will be legal in the country even without a current work permit.

Thanks mhievalencia that's what I know. But some people are arguing with me why are live in caregivers exempted from medical when other contract workers need to have their medicals. So I said I don't know but all the nannies I know didn't undergo medicals for their PR application. I think they are just jealous that LCP's don't need to have medicals made so they are insisting that we also should have our medicals taken.

Some caregivers have been denied permanent residence on the ground that an illness was discovered in a standard second medical examination after a caregiver had completed the requirements of the program. CIC now has the authority to assess medical admissibility in an application for permanent residence based on the medical examination administered before coming to Canada as temporary residents. This means the elimination of the second standard medical examination all live-in caregivers were required to undergo in Canada, after having completed their two years of employment"

Hello Schumie! I just got my OWP. It was sent May 3. But I just received it today. God is so good. I'm so happy. You may get yours this coming week.

January 27, 2016 - Application received by CIC
February 17, 2016 - Started processing my application
MArch 10, 2016 - Acknowledging Receipt of application
April 25, 2016 - OWP Issued

Thanks guys. It feels really nice. Finally landed on 5 May. The interview was really easy. Just asked if I have ever been convicted and if I don't have any dependants. That's it. It took 5 minutes. I also changed my SIN right away.
I applied using the old program. 3900 hours. If anybody needs help with their application, I will gladly assist. Just inbox me.

Did they request you to do your medical too? Or just your dependents? People are bugging me about this. I have heard that only dependents are requested to undergo medical but some people are persistent. I just want to know.

Hi Mrgabriel, me neither, I sent my package before you, on March 16 and NOTHING. I called and they did not tell me ANYTHING, they didnt even check my client number. Some of the girls here that sent their package in January, February and early March already got their AOR. Lets hope for the best. Stress mode here too, UGH!
