Dear Seniors;

I have 4 years work experience as a Finance manager but now working as an Assisstant Marketing Manager and wish to apply under skilled worker catagory.
I can provide experience letter of both as well
1- Pls clarify is it ok with both designations as it seems bit different.
2-If my current occupation is assistant marketing manager then what will be its code to mention in application form.
3-When I fill work experience then space to write down Assistant marketing Manager is not sufficient then can I use appreviations to mention my designation in that space or should use extra sheet to explain.
Seniors pls guide me.

when you use NOC, check for the title according to your job title. and mention duties according to its mentioned and related to that NOC number.

pls clarify bit more for my understanding if NOC means 38 occupation list then marketing manager occupation is not mentioned in that list. if its another NOC list then pls guide me where to find/read it.

You can look for NOC codes at http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/Welcome.aspx

You can find marketing manager at http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/Profile.aspx?val=0&val1=0611 and see if your duties match. There is no special NOC for assistant marketing manager.

You need to apply under financial manager because that is on the list of 38 and marketing manager is not.

Thanks leon

In initial application how to mention that I am claiming points as a finanace manager If I mention both my jobs last Job Finance Manager (Code 0111)and current job (code 0611) Sales and Marketing Manager as its not in Ministrial occupation list.

Because if they have to verify my current job and personal availability I will be available for verification.
Or should mention my last job only in inital application
What to do pls guide.
Thanks for your patience.

Follow the instructions and list your work experiences for the last 10 years including NOC codes. They will give you points for all skilled work but you need at least one year in a "38" occupation to qualify. Skilled worker forms can be found at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp and it's Schedule 3 that asks for work experience.

Furqan,
Hope this helps!

Factor 3 You will earn points for the number of years you have spent in full-time (37.5
Work hours per week), paid work.
experience
(maximum of Minimum Work Experience Requirements
21 points)

You must meet the following minimum work experience requirements to be
eligible to apply as a skilled worker:

• You must have at least one continuous year of full-time, paid work
experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment.
• Your work experience must be in the category of Skill Type 0, or Skill Level
A or B on the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC). See
below for instructions on determining the NOC category for your work
experience.
You must have had this experience within the last 10 years.

Determining Your NOC Category

To determine how many points you can earn for your work experience, go to
the Descriptions of Occupations page on the NOC website. Follow the
instructions to find the NOC category that matches your work experience.

If the initial description and list of main duties match what you did at your last
job(s), you can use this experience to earn points under the selection factors
when you apply as a skilled worker.

If the description does not match your work experience, then you might not
have the experience you need to apply as a skilled worker. Look through the
NOC list to see if another occupation matches your experience. Check all the
jobs you had in the past 10 years to see if you have at least one continuous
year of work experience in a job that will qualify you as a skilled worker.

Note: Remember that you must have work experience in an occupation in Skill
type 0 or Skill level A or B and that your experience must have occurred in
the 10 years before you applied.

If you do not meet the minimum work experience requirements, your
application as a skilled worker will be refused
.
