Language Ability Test - Indian Degree Holders

Hi Everyone,

I came to Canada in 2011 and recently became eligible for citizenship, so i am gathering documents for it. I have done masters in technology (computer science) from a renowned Indian university and my partners have a bachelors degree in IT. I am confused about language proof requirement. Do we both have to undergo language ability tests like IELTS? Or we can attach our degree's as proof. Any info on this will be really helpful.

1. If you wrote the IELTs to emigrate to Canada, then you can use that.
2. Unless you can prove that the language of instructions in all your courses at the University were in English, you will both require either IELTs or CELPIP L/S module.

If you got your degrees accredited by a Canadian organization that can accredit overseas educational degrees, those can be reused as proof. Those do have a statement which states that the education was completed with the "language" as a medium. Hope this helps.

I have submitted my Indian Bachelor degree certificate & Master Degree certificate. My application accepted & did my Citizenship Test on June 17th 2014.

So far no issues.

Thanks for the help guys. I do have my expired IELTS score card. Though as suggested by PMM its still valid for applying citizenship. Thanks again everyone
