If you live in Langley or Abbotsford, you will experience the worst commute possible every morning on Highway 1 westbound, the Burnaby stretch is.. how can I word it..an "experience".

I have no issues commuting, taking Kingsway all the way from New West to 12th Ave..
Thanks for sharing, foodie69. I have lots to think about now...

You're choosing your city first and will look for work there. Often, it won't work this way. Most of the time your job will make you live in that particular city.

Suppose you start living in Kingston, ON. You also start working which may not be up to your expectation. In few years, you get far better offer somewhere else, may be in other province. Wouldn't you consider moving out then?

Alternatively you can also consider using the park and ride facility (from Pitt Meadows or Mission BC) and take the west coast express to commute for work.

That's because I would actually much rather be comfortable and happy in my city than have a high-paying job. I won't relocate just anywhere for a few extra bucks. This is the first time I get to choose the city I'll live in, so this is why I'm considering those factors which are important to me to live comfortably. Besides, my major is Business Administration, so I can be pretty flexible with jobs: I've had roles in customer service, training, recruiting, sales...I don't need much to be happy ;D

Wow, really? That is surprising. This website lists Calgary as being the 4th Canadian city with the coolest summer days, as well as the 11th city with fewest hot days per year: https://www.currentresults.com/Weather-Extremes/Canada/coldest-cities-summer.php

This is why it's good to ask people who actually live or have been in these places!
I live in Calgary and our summers are not super hot. There is no humidity here, unlike all of the cities in Ontario. Generally our summers will be 20-25 degress, sometimes getting up to 30. Winters are pretty mean though!

Calgary is an hour away from the mountains and 3 hours to the states.

That sounds fantastic, andrew-brit! Thanks for the insight. No humidity and 20-25 degrees summers sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. The more I read about Calgary, the more it sounds like the perfect choice for me!

One other thing to be aware of, Calgary (and Alberta in general) is going through quite a rough economic patch right now, so jobs are scarce at the moment.

I think it depends on what you do as a profession. I am in IT (Software Engineer) and have no trouble finding work. I regularly get called up for interviews.

Bear in mind that last year, and previous years, Alberta's unemployment was under the national average of 7% - it is now 8.6% which is similar to other provinces. Yes, Alberta is struggling, but prior to the recession it was actually outperforming the other provinces.
