u have GIC also which will give you 2000 when u land..so thats 4000 CAD. am i right

No.After landing one has to go to novascotia bank to show the various details:-
pasport,study permit,LOA,Address proof,gic.
then they will activate your account and will give you a fixed date on which you can get the money per month.

Also, take the receipt when purchasing medicine.

u may need ur college ID too not sure some banks require 2 IDs one is ur passport and second ur college ID.
