Landing in Canada

Discussion in 'Settlement Issues' started by gyucel23, Sep 13, 2006.

  1. I have sent passports for the landing visa, and I ll be landing/moving to Canada soon.
I wanted to ask a couple of questions:
I ll take all my belongings (furniture, etc.) and my car.
What do I need to show at the port of entry?
How do I import my car?
Do I have to list everything like furniture, kitchen pots and pans?
I am going to rent a truck,my car will be towed in the back of the truck. entering with a rental truck, would that be ok?
How long does it take to clear the entry process?
Also is Toronto a good place to live and find a job?
I know too many questions but I appreciate your experiences and comments.
  2. Hi

  3. Thanks PMM, the first link shows the processing times.
  4. Hi

    http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/menu/AFAF_B-e.html You want the B4 and B4a

  5. How do I determine the values? Estimated values?
Also do I pay import fees for everything or just for the car?
My car is an importable and I ll take it with me when I first land in.
Do I fax the title to the US border?
  6. Hi

    1. Guess, estimated value.
    2. No taxes or duties on settler effects.
    3. Yes, 72 hours in advance.

  7. My car is Hyundai Elantra, it is admissable.
Do I need to get a "recall clearance letter"?
Also Do i pay any custom taxes or sales taxes for the car?
  8. Hi
