One of my friends has chosen Vancouver as POE for his first landing. He plans to come back after two weeks. He has no relatives or friends there. Can someone please suggest what options does he has to get his PR cards mailed to him. Need a quick reply. Thanks.

They will not mail them outside Canada. What he could do is when he lands, tell them he does not have an address yet. Once in Canada, he can go to a UPS store and arrange a street address with them with mail forwarding to his home country. Ideally, his PR card would then be forwarded to his overseas address.

If he doesn't have relatives in BC but has relatives elsewhere in Canada, he could give their address.

thanks leon, ..do you have any further details about UPS store, like how to find one, what do they charge, can he settle with them even before landing and have their address at hand once he lands, are they reliable for stuff like PR cards delivery !
Does anyone know of something like safehomestay in Toronto !!

UPS is a big company. I haven't heard anyone say that they are not reliable. You can see a map of UPS stores in Vancouver if you go to maps.google.ca and enter "ups store vancouver bc". He could try to contact one and ask them if he can get an address beforehand.

wonderful, thanks leon, lastly if any of his PR cards comes under objection due to photo issue,..would it be ok for him to send the photo from overseas to Canada, will it be accepted, or photo should preferably be delivered from within Canada to CIC.

hi all

i know, i have to bring all these documents mentioned below:-

1. Passport with Visa. Needed
2. COPR Needed
3. PofA. -for cases 'without' AEO & family class. (Cash, B/Draft, TCs, latest Bank Statement, Wire Tfr Record) Needed
4. Passport size photos. -qty 2-3 each, for PR Card. (it may not be needed, but good to carry) Not Needed
5. PR Card Application (IMM 5444E). -this u can do it there, Or carry it before hand (filled) for ease. Not Needed. Just provide the address for PR card delivery. The form will be filled by immigration officer
6. Goods to follow List (Form B4E). -this u can do it there, Or carry it before hand (filled) for ease.Needed... Bring 2 copies filled out. This can take a very long time to fill out at the airport if not done before hand
7. SIN Card Application (Form NAS 2120). -NOT NEEDED at the a/port. But needed later. Not needed. SIN application is filled directly on the computer, by service Canada guy, you don't have to fill anything

my query is:-

1) do i have to carry my original and copy of experience and educational docs? do they check when we land?Yes you will need it for getting a job or enrolling in a university. They won't ask for it at airport
2) if i open bank account in scotiabank from india and transfer money, can i show bank statement as a proof of funds? statements from Canadian banks are accepted as POF, however your account won't be activated till you physically land in Canada and go to a branch, even if money has already been transferred from India
3) what questions, do they generally ask when we land to canada?nothing really. They will ask for your local Canada address for PR card delivery and if you have any goods to follow. Also you need to declare if you are carrying more than C$10,000 (cash or pay order/draft)
4) any other info, you want to add regarding the same?

If there is a photo issue, they will send a letter instructing him what to do. It is possible that they will offer the option of mailing photos. If they do, he can. If they want him to bring them and he can't, it's also not the end of the world if he doesn't get a PR card right away.

He can wait until he moves to Canada and get one then.

fine, pls clarify if they ask to send the photos through mail, is it all the same for them whether he sends from within Canada or from outside ? In other words if asked, can he post the photos to them from overseas, no issues !!

You land in the first Canadian city you arrive in. Any flight after the first flight is domestic and you will not go through immigration again.

It is not the end of the world, but he will have to jump through hoops to return to Canada without a PR card. Getting a travel document made is just another hassle.

I may be off topic here, but the letter asking for photos will come in the mail. If you do not have a Canada address you will not get this letter.

Though I myself would be reluctant to give this address for PR card delivery, I know a lot of people who are using this company to create virtual presence in other countries and the mail received here is forwarded to their home country. It has popular options for Canadian addresses as well:

If he doesn't give a Canadian address, he wont be getting his PR card either. If you read the earlier posts, you see that the idea was for him to use a UPS or similar service for forwarding so if there were an issue with the photos, he would get the letter forwarded to his address and then possibly be able to mail the photos in.
