There's one case a while back where they requested passport 2 weeks after the interview, hoping it's the same outcome

Hey guys so today was a big day for hubby and I.

So today was my driving test and I passed :D ;D

Then hubby's interview was at 1 pm today. He called and told me that they interviewed him but his police record was expired. So the officer told him to get an updated one and bring it in with with his passport and then they will mail it to him. So i guessing thats good??

In the email they didnt ask for anything else except his travel documents.

So note

- Hubby said that his interview lasted for 15 mins.
- The interviewer was very nice, he smiled and he joked with him
- The interviewer was a light skinned black man, with short hair and a stout boby.

Questions asked:

- How did we meet?
- How did i mograte to Canada?
- Who do i live with?
- How much money do I make?
- What do I do in my spare time?
- What food do I like to eat?
- If i send him money?

NOTE:
- Hubby's police record was expired and he was never told to bring a new one so the officer told him to submit a new one with his passport. To just ring the bell and give it to the reception.
- The officer said they will mail it back
- They scanned his passport (i dont know why)
- The officer asked him if he had ever traveled before. Hubby said no and the officer replied with "Canada is a nice country you will like it"

COMMENTS:
- With one of his sons hubby's name wasnt added on his birth cerfiticate at birth so we got it added last year.
- The officer question him about it and told him that when hes ready to take him to Canada he will have to do a DNA test.

I was wondering if I could get some help with this question. I was talking to my husband about his son who is 16 years old and has downs syndrome. He will not come to Canada because he is very close with his grandma at this time and would be a hard adjustment. If something happened to my mother-in-law then his son would need to come to Canada. Do we need to send in his sons medical and birth certificate now before my husband is approved or can we wait till the future when he needs to come to Canada. We are August 2016 applicants and things to moving fast on here lately and not sure what to do. Sorry this is so long. Thanks for any help.

Any children of your spouse that you listed should be medically examined upfront. If you don't want to waste time and can get it done from now, do it

My husband goes for interview next month. Immigration officer told him he needs his updated police check and rcmp check. But I'm thinking his medical would have expired in maybe October of 2016. Does immigration give a grace period for expired medicals? I have not got any emails and they did not mention that in what was needed via phone call /email.... worried.

Normally when medicals are about to expire you can ask for an extension. Since its expured i dont think you can ask for that. They might ask for a new one. Police records are diff. As i mentioned earlier hubby pc expired and the email didnt ask for a new one but when he went for the interview the officer told him that he needed it

You can still ask for an extension they may or may not do it but still request it before spending money on a new one.

Hello Smithd, if in the future you ever want/need to sponsor your step-son to immigrate to Canada you need to include him on the application as a "non-accompanying dependent". If he is not included on the application (including all of his details and a medical) before your husband gets approved, then you will not be able to sponsor him in the future. Immigration is very strict about this, I have never heard of any exceptions to this rule so far.

Because your step-son will be considered a dependent in the future (due to having Down's syndrome) even as an adult, you won't have to worry about him passing the qualifying age for a dependent (right now it is under 19; however, in 2017 they are going to raise the age back up to under 22) but you need to act quickly to get him added to the application ASAP.

I would suggest you send a case specific enquiry to clarify the paperwork needed to add him to the application.

Good luck and Blessings.
