Mrslwsn...a friend of mine is a really good friend of his..I heard about it..thats soo sad! I really think he was a sweet guy because I saw a pic of him and he was all smiles..

Yea Sassy..Chrissy was a guy full of smiles, he was supposed to come hang out with us the night b4 he died, He was so good to my 3 sons, they never let a soul but him trim them..I used to bring them in the barber shop and he would tell mi, just send them with your big son dont worry I will watch the little one, so from last year til now my kids just roll thru by themselves, my blood ran cold when I heard, because I cant believe in such a public place where my children had sat in his chair the day b4, he lost his precious life. Foolishness. The memorial of flowers and candles outside the shop is really beautiful. Funeral is this Saturday.

Now that my husband ppr on January 26,12. What is the next step? How long does Kgn take to issue a visa or approval? Will the embassy call him? My husband says his pp will be delivered by DHL! Is that true?

Hey Psalm75! The embassy has now begun asking applicants to submit a prepaid DHL envelope when they send in their passports, in order to have it returned to the applicant in a timely and secure manner. This is easier for most persons than making 2 trips to the embassy in a short span of time, especially if they are far out of Kingston.

The PPR turnaround time depends on a number of factors, including the expiration date of his medical. Since your app was submitted in Feb 2011, if his medical has not yet run out, they may try to get things done and have the visa returned to him so that he can land before he needs to do another. If he did a new medical recently, there is not as much urgency and turnaround time may be a week or two.

Hello forum family!

UPDATE!!

Thanks to everyone who congratulated me and also to those who prayed, read, and smiled! Also I really appreciated the comforting words. Just want to share some information and hope that someone will benifit from my journey. When my husband recieved the call, he was ask two questions. The questions were: Where he was one year after graduating high school and which high school he attended. Please keep in mind that all that information was on his application.

So.... He went to Kingston last week Thursday at about 9am where they took his passport and other documents, he waited for three hours before they brought it back to him with his Visa. He said it was cold and he was exausted, sitting up for three hours lol! They didn't ask any questions then. I knew everything would go by fast since he was asked to bring his itinerary. He could have booked his ticket for any day after that but the fares were very high. He got a ticket for three hundred US dollars.

My hubby will be here on Tuesday ;D Woohoooo!!

Hello, I have been away for a long time. My hubby arrived in Canada from Jamaica last May 29th. We put in for his boys to come papers were received July 19th all papers were sent and medicals were done. Got file numbers but no updates since.

Does anyone know the time line for dependant chldren?

Hey jaruby! Glad to hear all is well and hubby has settled in and you guys are looking to bring your children into the family reunion! Typically minor dependent children should take about 6 months, they have no background much to speak of, so there is less time needed to validate their information. Expect to hear from KG soon, I think!

Good morning everyone! Bright and lovely morning, I hope everyone is looking forward to the week ahead, which starts in January and ends in February! Every year I say the same thing...January, I hardly knew you and now you're leaving!

Mrslwsn - remember it all depends on the individual applicants' backgrounds and history. Someone who has lived in one town all their life, worked at one job and never traveled is a lot easier to verify than someone who has lived several places, including long-term (more than 6 months) residence in other countries. That is one reason why those whose spouses have previously lived in Canada can sometimes take so long, RCMP checks can take a while, sometimes as much as 4-6 months. Other circumstances that can lengthen processing include step-children being sponsored (and how cooperative the other parent is), failed refugee claims, and police checks from other countries. It all comes back to the applicants and their backgrounds. That is why it is good to look more at the overall average processing time than the experience of a few individuals.

So has anyone here been in a situation where there was a failed refugee and Praa application so a outland sponsorship was completed? I would like to hear some of the timelines for Kingston in these situations?

Morning tintin79. I am not sure about refugee claims, I do know a couple cases have had ARC requests included, such as mylilangel's husband (16 months) and Homesoon (9 months). They have not commented in the forum for many months, though, so I am not sure you will be able to get any firsthand experiences.

Of course, confusednscared's case included a failed refugee claim, PRRA and an outland sponsorship but that was through POS. As you can see it took 26 months for his case to be finalised. Part of that was POS just being a POS though, I think...for the longest while no decision was taken on his case because they claimed they had no Program Manager and no-one else could do so, in spite of a positive interview more than a year earlier!
