Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows how long after the background check has been started a decision is made. We have been waiting 5 weeks now since the interview and noticed the other day background check started.
It may take 6-8 weeks...Keep the faith!

No they didn't keep his passport. Just said they would call when medicals for kids were received. Kids aren't coming yet. We will sponsor them when my husband gets to Canada.

Hi All.
Firstly congrats to those who were successful
Secondly, please if you can assist with knowledge great, if you cannot, please do not respond with sympathy etc as I just cant handle much more.
My husband was declined, as he did not prepare well for his interview. He knows me, but did not have the order of our many visits correct Meaning he did not prepare to be a defendant at a trial. I have the notes already, he was nervous and laughed, got some dates mixed up and the interviewer was looking for different responses to some questions which my husband interpreted differently. He is shy and not good under pressure. The interviewer pretty much accused him of being a gigilo.

We are appealing and I would like info from anyone who has appealed and how it went. I am looking at having some prep done with a lawyer but do not necessarily want to pay one to be there and ask me questions I can bring to light myself.
Also if you have used a lawyer, one you would suggest for phone prep.

Has anyone had success in the process? I understand the questions would primarily be directed at me and I do much better under pressure

Have you received your refusal letter as yet? You have 30 days from the date of the letter to file an appeal - you do not need to have lawyer to do this.

This thread is pretty good with a lot of information.

[/Hi all, first I'd like to say that this forum has been an amazing support group. It has helped me oh so much. some great news to share with everyone. Hubby did his interview today and got his visa on the spot. It honestly hasn't sunk in yet but I am extremely relived and overjoyed that this stressful process has come to an end. In all it took exactly 4 1/2 months CIC received our application October 31 2016. God knows I didn't expect hubby until the end of the year but I'll take him now lol. The questions he was mostly asked was directed to our relationship before marriage. We only knew each other a year before we go married but nonetheless are more in love than ever and today KVO did good by us. He was also asked where I worked. My job description and how much I make... also asked what he plan to do when he come to Canada. He'll be flying in tomorrow and I can not wait to hol him. I just want to say to everyone going through this that has just submitted or about to, not to believe everything you read In this thread although we all mean well it's not true..and keep the faith it'll all be over in no time at all. God bless everyone XO

QUESTION:

What's the best way to correct a mistake on a form that is already at the Kingston visa office? Web Form or emailing Kingston visa office directly, with explanation and the corrected info?

Thanks in advance.

Hello. Does anyone know how long it takes to get your passport back after you submit it to the embassy? They called my husband asking him to send his passport and passport pics in through dhl with return postage. If anyone can help I would appreciate it thanks

I'm sorry to hear that hubby had such a tough interview.. It sounds like she was trying to figure out if you are lying on your app to make things look good....having said that.. Her questions were very offensive ...the only thing I can think about is that the revoked life insurance may look like you only put him on and the took him off for immigration purposes ...just because they didn't give you the visa in the spot doesn't mean he will be denied ...just pray ..im sure if will be okay .....others have left with their passports only to be asked to mail or bring it in weeks later so keep the faith. :)
hey. Just wanted to tell you That they called him after to request he sends in his passport through dhl. Do you know how long it takes to have the passport returned by the embassy?

Did they take his actual passport ? ...the officer may feel you both don't know each other as well as you think you do ...however it is a waiting game now and will have to wait until they contact your hubby ...send the letter in the meantime...
