Can you update your spreadsheet? Decision Made on 3/1/2014. The VISA was issued the same day and passport handed to courier on 3/1/2014. Courier shipped it out on 3/3/2014 and we are expecting to get it tomorrow on the 4th.

Also for the travel, I forgot, I still have to include $400 in travel insurance for 3 months before I can put her on my work medical coverage. So all in all, to get my wife safely out of Jamaica, $1700 CDN bill.

She has never flown before so I am going along to bring her back with me, otherwise she would have flown on her own. There are other circumstances that require me to fly into Jamaica as well.

Tx and Thank you to everyone that said their congrats. I may not sound excited but I am. But at the same time, I feel bad for those still waiting that were still waiting when I joined this forum. I hope that your wait ends soon and whatever the hold up is, it gets resolved soon so that you can too be reunited with your loved ones. And despite what anyone said towards me in the earlier parts of the days of me being here, I am not mad. We all let emotions get to us all. I know, it happens to me. We are only human. All the best wishes to everyone. And remember, if your not getting anywhere, contact that MP and ask for assistance. Request for them to get an update on your file. Don't wait till that 22nd month or whatever they tell you. They are elected officials, they are supposed to be there to help you. Again, good luck! I will post when we land in Canada together.

Morning everyone. Kingston office is closed tomorrow for Ash Wednesday so here's hoping someone or some people get some good news today!

Yeah, I started preparing the application 8 months prior to the wedding. So that by the time we got married, a month later, the papers were sent off and filed.

Ahhh yes, sounds exactly like what we did (but we only started about 4-6 months prior). but we gathered everything from the very day we met and went forward so by the time we were married, the application was in the following month. Then I was the one who forgot a piece of paper and it was sent back to me then returned to the application centre where I was approved a few days later.

Just got word. We are approved for the residency. Passport is on the way via DHL.

So you don't have to use your local MP. I ask this because my MP was very rude and unsupportive when I spoke with her, and we have even worked together in the past.

No offence taken. I completely understand. Honestly, I feel bad for everyone that is still waiting. There have been lots of people private messaging me with questions and I have been open in providing guidance. I have used the same approach (filing papers) the 2nd time, in both cases, <8 months. The first time, I never used an MP for any assistance. So the only explanation that I have is my filing method (even though some people say that makes no difference). The thing that is different, for me this time around, is that I used an MP and had their full support for my application. Although, I did have to sign some privacy papers and fax back to the office before they would assist me further. Eventually, I plan to go to a flower store with my wife once she's here. Plan to buy a dozen roses and some chocolates. Then drop it off at my MP office and meet everyone at that office including the woman that has been assisting me for the last 4 months. That office has been so amazing and supportive of our situation. I got more updates through the MP office than I would get through notes waiting for weeks on wards and it didn't cost me a dime to get updates. I highly recommend if you can find an MP office to assist you, do it; even if its from the opposition MP. I also never used a lawyer.
