Oh that's awesome! I always wanted to go to a villa...we were considering it for our wedding but it just didn't work out that way! lol

I'll definitely look into this avenue :) thanks THOR :)

Very welcome! We considered doing our wedding at a villa as well, but with the 35+ ppl coming to the wedding from Canada it would have been a nightmare for me to plan so went with a resort wedding.

CW let me know if you want link to the villa in Mobay that I stayed at when you are ready.

I wanted to do resort wedding also..but it just wasn't happening! We had 145 people (about 55 from overseas) and many of which, although from overseas, have homes in Jamaica. So, no one was going to stay at the resort! LOL

We ended up having it at a country club, Caymanas Country Club, in St. Catharine.

Yess please :) I would love to see the villa and I can bring it up to hubby later! Thanks THOR :)

Good Morning Everyone!!

Alright Kingston.... first off, good morning. Hope all you lovely VOs slept well last night and you are ready to get things moving today. This forum has been way too quiet over the last few weeks and we need some good news to lift our spirits!! Time to draw a few names in the Kingston Lottery..... Who's next???

Leshatesha: Congrats on the wedding!! :)

There has been lots of good advice already given re: putting your application together but I found this thread had some really good tips too:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/how-i-organized-our-applcation-and-a-summary-of-all-helpful-tips-i-have-learned-t92449.0.html

I used the checklists as a guide and made sure all forms and documents were in the order listed on the 2 checklists (main checklist plus the country specific one).

Then I had a few large envelopes with the proof of relationship: cards/letters, emails, facebook logs, receipts from trips to Jamaica (boarding passes, hotel/car receipts etc), Digicel call log. I included about 50 photos and I just wrote on the back who was in them and where/when they were taken. About 12 of the photos were from the wedding.

I did a cover letter outlining our relationship and put that on the very top of the pile.

here is a picture of the application:

Hi Everyone!

I've been a little worried about my husband adjusting when he gets here but most of all concerned about him getting good work in Hamilton. Have any of you started looking for different opportunities for when your husband arrives?

If it was up to me I would love for him to get government/city work :)
wishful thinking i know!

Let me know your thoughts,

Z

Hi Zoey :) Ps, I love that name! LOL

Anyway - my husband and I definitely thought about this...although it's a long way away!

While he will be looking for something right away education is definitely key. He will be getting his forklift license and working (either AM or PM) and going to school to persue a career.

His dream career is to be in architecture - his designs/drawings are impeccable but of course the proper training re: physics etc. are required :)

I have a friend whose husband did the same route and apparently there are jobs to be had in the field.

Thats awesome!! would he have to go to university for architecture?

my huband has done an electirician course and chef course in JA so he was thinking of going to school for one of the two. He's not really good with numbers etc.. so he will most likely focus on something more hands on.

I just hope he enjoys what he ends up doing and of course making good money is always a plus ;)

Hi everyone, well my husband and step son are off to get their medicals done in Mobay today. Another month and I am ready to submit our application. I cannot wait to begin the wait...all good things to come.

You would think being born and raised in Canada...after 24 years of experiencing this weather - I would be used to it!

There are two routes, college or Univ. You get your architectural technician license via college and work below architect making on average $54K salary in Toronto, Ontario. A full fledge architect will also have to go to university/ get masters degree and of course makes more than $54k.
