OH! Also, when would his medicals and criminal expire (if they do)?

We were told by his immigration officer friend to make sure we send everything in at once and not to wait until they ask for it, otherwise it could hold up his processing. So they already have everything. Literally everything.

His police check expires 1 year from the date that is one it. You will have to redo your criminal check

Medicals also expire at te one year mark however thy will extend them if they will ask for ppr soon....however they will also extend them for another year sometimes. Nev had hers extended fr a year. You can email Kingston and ask if you should redo them or if they will extend them. You should do this before they expire. Some people have just redone their medicals without being asked to or without asking for an extension. You are better off redoing them ASAP if Kingston requests for it or if they have expired due to non extension as from reading on here it holds up your file by another 3 months.

Hope this helps you

GOODNESS!!!! I definitely do not want a 3 month delay. I will check the dates on the copies that I have and ensure he gets them redone prior. And I'm assuming we have to send them to the Kingston office?

What is their email? I sent the change of information, but I am going to hunt them down until I confirmation that they have the new numbers. Neither of us even have access to our old phone numbers at all.
Here is the link to their email.

Thanks Chickie! I submitted a request for confirmation. I hope I get one. I would really hate for them to not update it because 'they don't feel like it'. I guess I will have to attempt every avenue until I get confirmation of the update.

The medical is done electronically and sent by the doctor however your husband will still receive the same paper confirmation from the doctor. You will need to have your husband send that and the new criminal check to Kingston

Oh, okay. I think I remember that now. The doctor doesn't give him anything, he just asked where it was for and all his information and he sent it directly.

The criminal came in hand.

There is so much involved here. You would think when we do all this work, that they would be able to push people through faster. There must me all kinds of work for Jamaicans with all this back-log! lol

Also, how in the world do some people get through in a matter of 5 months? I personally know a couple that from time the application was mailed until the day he landed it took them 5 months, 1 weeks.

Is it just the luck of the draw?

I have asked myself this question several times over the last (almost) 20 months since I've been in the process. I would love to see a completed application that was finalized in 5 or 6 months so I could compare it to mine.

There are certain complexities in some applications which warrants them taking longer than others; however, I do believe some applications sit dormant in Kingston whether we want to admit it or not.

And yes, maybe, just maybe, luck has a little to do with it too...

We sent EVERYTHING in with our application and Kingston still asked us to pay the RPRF... ::)

It was from 2012, but I didn't think that would matter so much. Feb or march of 2012 if am not mistaken. And I knew not to expect their lucky 5 months, but I am still praying for an 8-9 month turnaround, though I know it will be much longer. Expecting the worst, but hoping for the best kind of thing, you know?

That is the best attitude to have throughout your immigration journey! :D

Thank Nevaeha. I'm glad I'm finally getting open and honest feedback from people actually going through this process. Speculation doesn't do it justice when it comes to gathering information.

I truly believe that it depends on who is processing the applications, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they randomly pick through applications and that's why some get through a lot quicker than others.

If by some luck of the draw I magically get my hubby with me before some of the longer waiting ones, I will happily share my application with you to compare notes. It would be good to see, you know?

Hi,

Just wondering when was the last time that you have seen your Hubby, any plans to go down? 8)
... I was in JA in August, will most likely be going for the Christmas/ New Year...although the prices are SKY HIGH :o... have no other choice, in terms of the timing, because I have already used up all of my vacation time (since we got married, last year... it has been a record in terms of the amount of time back and forth...) which is a drain financially, but I keep telling myself , not for much longer ;)

CanJam, I keep telling myself the same thing... hopefully for not much longer! I was going down every 2 months and have now had to spread that to every 3 :(

I will personally be heading down December 12, and I am only staying until the 15th, but I suppose something is better than nothing. The trip is costing me just over $500 (round trip, taxes in). I was there for 3 weeks on Feb (Wedding), Went back May 24 weekend, was there again for 3 weeks in Sept and I am going for 4 days this trip. It's never enough, but I definitely try my best to see him.

What about everyone else? When are you guys planning on heading back?
