Girl, truly I'm not xpecting to receive a ppr for now but I'm really just ecstatic just to finally know my file has been received in kingston, especially after reading horror stories on other forums abt receiving sponsorship approval and 3 mnths later finding out the visa officer forgot to transfer their file...atleast I know its there!

BTW congrats on getting your FBI clearances sent off! Must b a huge relief to get that weight finally off ur shoulders! I think it definetly a gud idea to give kingston a heads up that its sent off so they could b on the look-out for it.

CHeers to another week of movement from kingston!!!! Hoping to see some ppr and visas rolling through this week!

I think I will email them!! Kingston Good news this week!!!

Thanks Nev!! It was great to be home, I didn't want to leave.

How are you doing? Any news your way? Hope all is well!

Hopefully your husband will be in Canada by Christmas; fingers crossed!

I'm doing okay, SUPER busy with work, travelling all over our great country! It helps to pass the time going through this immigration process...sigh...
Nothing from Kingston for me, hopefully no news is good news. I want everybody ahead of me to get their hubby's to Canada first. I can't imagine what it must be like to see people who submitted their applications after you getting their PR's before you. I know everyone's case is different but I'm sure it's hard...

I'm looking forward to spending Christmas in Negril with my husband...53 more days...

No news is good news in this process, generally speaking lol. I would love to travel all over our country and plan to for 3 weeks one summer when hubby gets here... If you are ever out in the prairies, let me know!

Well, got an email from my MP today... not sure how to feel about it... here it is...

"I just talked to CIC and XXXX’s file is in the queue for selection decision. I don’t have a time line for this process. All I can say is that we are still within in normal processing time."

I thought we would be further ahead of the game then at selection process only :(

No news is definitely good news in this process. You may not be as far back as you think. The "Selection Decision" is based on the applicant's admissibility as per the results of his eligibility, criminality, background, security and medical checks. It is the last decision, and is either pass or fail depending on the assessment of the results. If you are at that stage, you are closing in on the last lap.

Hang in there, your dawn is soon and this "immigration dark night" is soon over!

Well that definately makes me feel a lot better. I was under the understanding that an IO will not start background checks until the selection process was complete and passed. This must mean that all of my husband's checks are finished. Hopefully my hubby really will be here for Christmas.

Thank you Charlie, I have tears :)

Well I hope they are happy ones. :)

Remember that for spousal applications, the eligibility, the background, the security/criminality, all of that has to come together before they can make a selection decision. For the economic classes, because there are specific requirements which must be met for the selection decision (enough points for skilled workers, correct amount of funds for investor, etc), that decision comes first, then the background and other checks can proceed. Otherwise the background checks are redundant if the person does not meet the eligibility criteria. Spousal is upside down because the criteria for us is subjective, we don't need education/work points or a certain amount of funds, we have to show that our relationships are "genuine" and not entered into to gain "status/advantage under the Act or Regulations" which involves motives, which of course is subjective.

Yes, happy tears! I thought that "selection decision" was only the decision that we are or are not genuine. Very pleased to hear this!

I just heard on the news that both MBJ and KIN will be closed as of 8 am tomorrow due to hurricane Sandy. I hope this isn't the case and interrupts anyone's travel plans.

Nope, that is the eligibility decision. ;) Having a genuine relationship makes him eligible to be sponsored as a spouse. Passing/not passing all the other sections means the selection decision (decision on admissibility to Canada) can be made.
