Hello!
I would like to know the procedure about getting a license for an engineer from outside Canada please.
Thanks in advance.
P.S:- My profile was updated today with the most useful tool provided by cic and my profile completed 6 months on 7th Dec being stuck at ip2 since mid October.
There's this Engineers with Canadian dream group that I stumbled upon while researching.
You can join and ask any questions on the group.

I still don't see progress bar in my profile. Not that it will give me any insight but seems like my application doesn't seem to get any updates. Sigh!
Awww! Hope it appears soon...it does seem to be getting done in batches, because all of us certainly did not get it at the same time. This thread is more than enough proof of that ;)

@Nishika22 Immitracker shows a very similar timeline as ours "SunilSilpa" got PPR on 12th. AOR Jun 18, IP2 Oct 25
Wow! Things are moving...and moving for many on our ark it seems :) Just a question of time now...4 days for you and 11 for me as per the (in)famous progress bar :D Jokes apart, it seems IP2 24-27Oct isn't jinxed after all ;)

Hi everyone!!

Actually i have a confusion regarding the work experience category under express entry..I am self employed and running a business of travel and events from last 4 years ..wanted to know that can i show this self employed experience in express entry???

Hey Guys,
What are your pre arrival preparation plans?

For those in regulated professions here (engineers, doctors, nurses) are you working towards getting licensed? What have you done so far?
For those none regulated professions what steps have you taken to make job searching easier?
Let's have a discussion about these things while we wait for PPR.
Sounds like a plan :) I'm a financial communications specialist. I'm signed up on Job Bank and registered on Glassdoor to get alerts. Managed to get one telephonic interview call and one email exchange so far. The interview didn't work out, the HR lady was super polite but did not seem too interested - I couldn't really be sure if PPR or profile fit was the problem. For the next role, which was actually a perfect profile fit, the email exchange was positive to begin with, but lack of PPR threw a spanner in the works there :(
The hubby is a senior relationship manager handling a team for offshore lending at an MNC bank. His prospects look bleaker than mine, THB, as his role is more specialised, so we expect it to be harder to get profiles of choice for him. Let me know if you guys have any ideas how we can improve our job hunt from outside Canada :)

Thanks for sharing. I'm really surprised you for a telephone interview from Job bank and glass door. People in Canada swear that those two dare if no help and Indeed and Monster are the only two job sites that actually work in Canada.
Then LinkedIn.
My strategy for LinkedIn is to follow all the oil and gas companies in CA, for you that will be financial institutions, their HR/recruitment specialists and a couple of other relevant staff in the company and religiously monitor their posts. I've forwarded a few relevant job adverts I've seen via this approach to friends who are currently PR Holders in Canada as I know that my lack of PR will derail any job applications.
Let me know if any of these suggestions work for you and Le hubby.

Not sure, if you went through the pointers for Self-Employed people here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=286&top=6

You have to show yourself as self-employed. And yes you can use the number of years as foreign work experience.

You can also look at working as a independent contractor... https://www.thebalancesmb.com/are-you-a-contractor-or-an-employee-2948639

The big tax advantage for the independent contractor, of course, is the potential for tax deductions. Generally, a self-employed person can deduct all reasonable business expenses.
