Not sure if this is how it normally works. I believe all your old visas are cancelled when you land with your COPR, so I've been told. Airlines don't let you board with a cancelled visa either so the visa officer's question was right.
I think anyone travelling out from Canada without a PR card might want to check what the procedure is because you might not be able to get back without the PRTD.
In theory yes in practicality no.. a visa only considered if it has stamp of cancellation on it, airlines has no way of checking and even officer paid no herd to it.. tried and tested a week back ahhaha

Well, thank you for letting us know the actual process but I guess @sid1987's case was possibly an alternative reality. We definitely need to go by the process but Sid did experience something and shared it here...he would get nothing by sharing wrong information... Not like he does it for money. :p
I wish i could put snapshot of this.. even i was bothered of this prtd issue.. as my wife had to come back with me and i had pr card and her was still u in typical ircc stuff... but yes u can board using old visa if and only if it does not have cancellation stamp on it.. or else nope and yeaa at border officers don care about will just ask how u boarded the plane

And @Jaywalker i agree that process and i was under same assumption... but u know wat call air canada and ask them , they will clearly say they have no was of checking validity by ircc system.. and indian immigration official nope.. i can assure you that.. and once u land in canada.. and if u resident and u can prove your identity , by law no immigration officer can stop you from entering.. but yes.. i do agree i took risk as it was emergency and it worked out but if u guys have ample time in hand get prtd..

You had pr card already right. Do they still check for visa if you have the card.

How much time does ircc take to reply back to CSE ? Any idea? I just filled up the form to inquire about my application.

I just got this reply to a request I raised barely 12 hours ago:

Quite a pointless and generic response, so can't really say the speed to respond matters over much!
