Hey guys,
So in October, CPC Ottawa requested financial documents and we sent them proof of savings, a job offer letter, and the required tax info. I sent it via Express post and they received it on the 29th. I know it hasn't even been 2 weeks since that but any idea how long they can take? Indefinitely? From everything I read it seemed like US spousal sponsorship cases were breezing through but it's slowed down now. We are fast approaching the 5 month mark. Hopefully it's any day now.

How long did they give you to respond. The norm seems to be that they wait till the end of that time and bring forward the application on that date . However their has been a few cases when they haven't waited . Lets hope its soon.

My partner who I am sponsoring is also American.

We had docs requested August 26th, and sent them immediately. They were received by the CIC on Sept 3rd.

They gave us 60 days, and we still haven't heard anything - it's been well over 60 days. I wouldn't expect anything any time soon.

Just to reinforce the point, I am an American, sponsored by my Canadian partner.

We also had docs requested August 26th and sent them immediately (received by CIC on Sept. 4th).

They gave us 60 days, suggesting a bring forward date now a couple of weeks past. We likewise have heard nothing. It seems the quick Ottawa processing times of early summer have slowed significantly. Patience, as always, is warranted.

I was also requested to send additional information on September 30th, sent out the next day and have no heard a peep. Also, has anyone else requested an extension on their visitor visa? I sent it out September 19th, and haven't heard anything. My visa expired October 26th but I am on implied status until a decision has been made. I am leaving for NJ November 23rd as my mother is having heart surgery and will be back in the states for a week, and don't want to have a problem getting back into Canada. I have proof we submitted and paid for an extension as well as proof I returned to the states for my mothers surgery with a written letter from her doctor as to date and hospital of her surgery. Anyone else waiting what seems a long time for an extension??? I'm just nervous!

Dears,

Just wanna share my joy with all of you. My husband got his passport with immigrant VISA sticker in it. So what's the next ? He is already inside Canada with a valid work permit. So he needs to get out of Canada and re-enter via any border? Also, he received an email from CIC indicating that the local CIC officer will contact him for the confirmation of PR. Does that mean he need to have an interview before landing?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hope all of you who still waiting for the news can receive ASAP :)

Cheers

MAJOR UPDATE!

My hubby got an call from the Santo Domingo VO this morning and he has an interview scheduled for November 26th. Not at all happy about the interview as it's one extra step that we have to take (it's my hubby's 2nd marriage so no surprise re: the interview), but I'm very surprised that we even heard something from them this quickly!!!

They sent an e-mail to both of us after they called him. They've asked that he bring his passport and further proof of our relationship (UGH). Thankfully we have plane tickets, apartment receipts, photos, emails between my hubby and my parents/grandparents, etc. since we originally sent our package to CIC in June. I also plan on flying down and going with him to the interview...hopefully they will see that as a positive thing!

Spreadsheet has been updated.

They gave us 45 days until November 25. It sounds like that's when they'll review the information we have sent in? Ecas still says "application received"

I imagine the holidays are going to slow this down significantly as well. Would suck all sorts of butt to have this go into 2015.

May I ask what additional information they requested?

I have given up on thinking my hubby will be here permanently before the end of the year . Now i am hoping it will be March or April .

The lease on my husband's apartment is up so we were thinking that it's best he comes to Canada and waits for his COPR here. There is no point in renewing the lease. We are going to get his passport stamped the next time we enter Canada together so he doesn't have any issues staying here.

CIC requested IMM 5409, the Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union form along with two photos for the PR card. According to the instructions, the form was not required (and we had already sent in 4 photos). I suspect that because we are applying common-law, with a relationship well beyond the two-year range of Condition 51, the VO wanted some more "official" documentation before approving it. But that's just a guess.
