Ganesh clearly said in his post that he could not finish the immigration process because the servers were down and was asked to wait for few hours. As he did not leave Canada (by entering another country through land), he has his right to stay in Canada (unless ordered to leave). Also, I am not sure where you got information like "they don't hire IT guys" from. :-S

first of all survive five minutes in my life and you can be a hero,
second Lebanon and Syria you can go back and forth quite easily before the Syrian war there was a time where you didn't need a passport.
third everyone is so sensitive to everything grow up. let no one act high and mighty with me this game doesn't work with me.
Plus I was just asking how did he go back in Canada without formalities if the computers are down. seems like a reasonable question.
Also I assure you budget cuts across Canada are hurting immigrants IT workers.
you know it is 12:34 after midnight and I can't believe I am responding to you, I left the forum for months because of stupid and I will again. Good bye this time forever.
Really the past 7 years I got nothing but frustration from this forum. I am sorry I reinstated my account.

I completely agree with noc4012 - there was nothing offensive in iHabkal's question. He was merely asking how did the person get in Canada when the border office had their systems down. Its a perfectly valid question. In fact, i had the same question in mind and gratefully another member clarified that it was totally ok to enter as Ganesh still has WP and perhaps the office doesn't need to enter anything. Done.

And pointing towards Syria and Lebanon- IHabkal was just making a reference to a fact that there is no passport control or office between 2 countries. Still confused why naming a country is offensive? He is not mocking them as far as i understand.

We can't even imagine what some of the members have gone through and are still going through during this whole CIC process. We all come here to share our experience, ask questions which appears as the mystery of universe, yet silly to others (who have gone through the process). Trying to judge their questions or label it offensive (when its not so) - goes against the very basic purpose of this forum.


Let's continue to ask questions and share our knowledge with each other in a friendly manner.

We posed the same question at that time and they mentioned abt my valid work permit and the fact that we were already living in Canada for the past few years on w/p and so allowed to leave back into Canada...
Seems very valid... But our disappointment is towards thee fact of simple reason why couldn't we complete landing simply because of the non-functionality of the systems.. What would have happened if the systems were still down after couple of hrs... We would have to cross th border again ??? These are the questions in my mind at that time..

But our luck that it went fine after couple of hrs..

Completed landing on Saturday at Rainbow bridge at Niagara.

Crossed over the bridge and went to US border and got the "not allowed to entered" letter from them (as we dont have US Visa) and returned back to Canadian border.

When we returned back and told that we are here for landing, they directed us inside to the immigration department.

Then we heard the unexpected reply from the immigration folks that the systems were down. They were asked to go out and roam around for 2-3 hours and return back.. We were very disappointed with that response.. We met few other folks who are also could not complete the landing because of non-function of the systems...

Finally, we left from that place and spend couple of hours near Niagara falls and after some time decided to go back to them....

When we returned back to them, they said the systems are working fine now and completed the landing formalities in just 10 - 15 mins...

Thus finally this journey came to the end of the long waited period... crossing many hurdles....glad to become PR.

Many thanks to this forum members who helped tremendously with their suggestions, experiences, inputs...

Thank you for your good wishes everyone ! I am so happy and relieved that this long journey has almost come to an end. This process was like a thrilling roller coaster ride with its ups and downs, twists and turns, excitement and frustrations and I am glad that I was a part of this amazing forum on this ride :)

The process went quite fast after the receipt of MR...MR to PPR was only one and a half month...and the wait for MR was 10 months ..anyways, all's well that ends well. Once again, thanks for being with me and helping me in this journey. Hope to see you all in 2 years in the citizenship forums :)
