thank u alain.... immersion into french culture is a valid point i will think about it.............
Yeah. At first I thought immersion was totally unnecessary. After all I only wanted to SPEAK French, not BE French. But I soon realized, as I took my first few tests, that it is one thing to know the words and quite another thing to know when they are used appropriately. Also, I struggled to speak French when my cultural references were all non-French. I won't be able to speak French well if I insist on talking about bistek tagalog (a Filipino dish). It has to be Boeuf Bourguignon, Foie gras.. ;D

You will also need somebody you can talk to. Practice makes perfect. Check out www.livemocha.com

I use google translate too. je ne parle pas francais ( I don't speak french). I find it very hard to pronounce, nearly tongue-twisting syllables. Still I think it's worth putting all the efforts into learning french. ;)
I still want to continue learning French, given that I am moving to Canada soon (I'm thinking positive here. haha). Trivia: I was named after a French actor. But learning French is not like learning Spanish, which was easy for me. I sound natural in Spanish. I think I need to soft-boil my tongue before I can pronounce French words properly.

Hi Harneet,

I suggest you to go ahead with the medicals. DMPs must have tackled such situations before.

But you have to get your DOB corrected before the visa is stamped. Send the correction request again with your med receipt /RPRF . So this issue doesn't crop up in future . Stay healthy. Good luck with meds.
Thanks RKC for your suggestions.. I am reaching India on 8th Jan, so by that time, If I don't hear back from the CHC about my query email that I sent 3 days back (and today again!), I shall get my medicals done.. with a hope there is no complication created due to this.. :) Thanks again!

Now,

I was amongst the lucky few who saw the "received by visa office" (RBVO) status on ECAS. It appeared for one day and then changed to "In process" the next day. Most people who are being processed at the London VO simply missed the RBVO status because it changes as soon as your file is received and placed amongst those which await processing.
Thanks for the reply. The thing to do then would be to keep checking ecas.

I was not really asking you a question alain, just posted couple of tongue twisters in french....just monkeying around.Looks like I'll have to depend on my kids for my french tuition when they study it as their second language in Canadian school. (me too thinking positive here... :))

I'm sure you're tracking your med reports, are they delivered?

Our applications are past 5 months 2 weeks & 6 days...& here I am without MR in sight. :( Sorry for sounding impatient when I know there are others too who are waiting.

I think I should get rather busy watching settlement Ontario videos to get my mind off thinking about MR.

is a birth certificate mandatory for immigration?
While a birth certificate is a preferred method of identification, there are other optional methods depending on your home country if it is not possible to get a birth certificate.
Documentation proving birth must be consistent with what is issued in your country. For example, a secondary leaving certificate, or a national identification card, sometimes in conjunction with a sworn affidavit of your place and time of birth, can be acceptable.
All valid documentation must contain your name, your date of birth, and at least one of your parent's names.

Canadian Immigration Questions and Answers with David CohenI
Can someone be refused permanent residence in Canada if he/she has a medical condition such as atherosclerosis or diabetes?
Canada has a set of medical inadmissibility rules that determine who can be refused for immigration purposes. These medical inadmissibility rules describe circumstances, whether putting a burden on our health and/or social services or posing a danger to the Canadian population, that a visa officer uses to determine whether someone is ineligible to immigrate to Canada.
Relevant to your question is the rule called Excessive Demand Cost Threshold. Canada does not let people into Canada for immigration purposes whose health and/or social services costs it estimates will surpass this threshold.
So for example, someone with diabetes may or may not be deemed medical inadmissible depending on whether their treatment requirements are estimated to surpass the Excessive Demand Cost Threshold..

I was single when I applied for Canadian immigration. A few months before getting the immigration visa and departing to Canada, I got married. I never declared this as I was informed by a few people that this wouldn’t be an issue and I could easily apply for my wife after entry. What would be the situation now if I try to apply for her immigration?
I am sorry to have to tell you that you have been misinformed. As I stated in last month’s CIC News Questions and Answers article, it is the responsibility of the applicant to inform the visa office whenever they have a change of family composition. This obligation extends right up until the time that you enter Canada as a permanent resident.
If you now attempt to sponsor your wife to immigrate to Canada, an investigation may be triggered to find out when you were married, and you may be accused of misrepresentation. This can result in the loss of your permanent residence status and possibly being barred from entering Canada for two years..
