Background information: My older brother who is a PR in Alberta applied for the 2018 lottery back in January 2018 to sponsor my mother and I (I was under 21 at the time), about a month later we were selected and asked to hand in forums such as the IMM and Eimm and other paperwork with a deadline of mid May if I recall correctly which we obviously did.

Fast forward to August 23, my brother receives an email from CPC Mississauga stating that we have been selected for 2018 intake cap and were given an application number.

Is this what other people refer to as a AOR(acknowledgement of receipt)? If so, does that mean our file is still at the CPC Mississauga or has it been forwarded to Beirut, Lebanon where we are located? Also, what is the next step after this email, do they contact us and if so what do they ask for this time? If anyone has any idea what the waiting time is like from the date of the AOR to the next step that would be great.

Lastly, this is a bit off topic but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask anyways. The estimated processing times for applications like ours is between 20 - 24 months, I understand this is just an estimate and may be sooner or later but when does this estimate actually start? Does it start when we were selected for the lottery or when we received the AOR or what?

Thanks everyone!

Edit: From what I am reading online many people who receive their AOR end up having their application status updated to "Medical Passed" within a month but we haven't been informed about needing to do a medical at this point. Did we miss something?
