I am trying to find something that we can check which trades Canada is mostly in need for so students interested in studying in Canada can choose a useful trade that will fill that need.

My sister in law is interested in coming to Canada and she has a background in Engineering, but she is also open to try something else if it is interesting. We would like to focus on a trade that can also be useful for Canada so it helps the Country, and improves her job opportunities as well.

Our current goal is to focus on a study (college or uni) that is at least 2 years or more. This study must also be one that is qualified for PGWP, but also allow her to work while studying so she can get some experience that counts towards an express entry path.

I have been looking at the institution listings only, the ones each college and university list as PGWP eligible and list the details of the part/full time allowance, but this becomes quite tedious if we aren't sure which ones Canada would like to focus the most.

I tried looking for some directory or listing of such trades that Canada wants more, but so far I could not find anything specific like this in the IRCC websites, so I would love if someone that might know about this could direct me to where I can find it.

College is for trades. If she has a degree then she needs to select a program that expands on her current education and current job. No need to come to Canada to "try something else.": She needs to justify costs with higher pay when she returns. So she chooses a a program that shows she will return with many job opportunities. She needs to decide her own career path. She is coming to Canada to study to complete studies and return home. So once she picks an area of study then google study area and province.

What type of engineer? For example much more opportunities for robotics engineer vs civil engineer for eg. Does she have work experience? Do they have offices in Canada? Becoming a nurse or teacher in her home country and getting some work experience may be a better pathway to Canada and PR as well as learning French. In terms of trades I would focus on things like electrician, plumbing, anything involving robotics, etc. but those routes typically require apprenticeships which can be difficult to secure and are longer processes. These will also be competitive programs especially anything that will be involved automation & AI build-outs. How old is she? Will she have high IELTS scores?
