Is there a Mandatory Waiting Period for ppl from Pakistan, Iran, Syria etc..?!

I am just wondering if there is a mandatory waiting period for ppl from the following countries when applying for CEC .. it is not written anywhere but when applying for TRV, SP, or WP ppl from these countries wait longer than the rest ... anyone here in this forum who is from these countries and their applications was completed within 7 months? or are the majority waiting for at least the 13 months? - see note below for applying for a visa from the CIC website:

*Please note that 20 working days will be added to the processing of TRV applications from citizens or residents of the following countries: Afghanistan, Bosnia, Croatia, Iran, Iraq, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia, Montenegro, Pakistan, Palestine, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen

just trying to make sense as to why many of us are waiting even thou nothin is on our file based on GCMS notes ...

There is no mandatory waiting period. Background / security checks take longer for certain countries because it's more difficult for Canada to access and verify records from that country.

so its common for ppl from these countries to wait longer than others? did anyone get their file processed within 8 months or less?

What exactly is the OP's nature of application? From start to finish it took my family's immigration (FSW) 3 years and 3 months to process (from receipt of form at Sydney, NS to the issuance of the PR visa by the London, UK visa office.

For anything CIC you're in for a long wait. City of residence was Karachi, Pakistan whilst applying.

Processing times depend on the visa office however I'm unsure at what stage your application is.
