is my PR status linked to my passport duration?

I just got approved for PR - though one thing that remains unclear is if my PR status is linked to my passport length (similar to work and study permits) - my passport expires in 1yr (will be renewing it soon) does this mean my PR expires in 1 year as well?

No - it's not linked to your passport.
