Is it safe to send passport with a friend for stamping while being in a different country?

I cannot take leave from work right now and my friend here with me is leaving soon and could give it to the courier pick up guy back home.

Safe meaning not passport being lost but anything with IRCC

I applied from my home country but I'm not there (working in another country). My friend is going to my home country so can he give it to the courier and get it stamped.

Do you know he can get in trouble for carrying someone's else's passport if he goes through immigration at the border and in case he get secondary inspection??
In this case why don't you let IRCC know about the change of country and to request them a change of VAC to submit your passport.
