Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, I received a letter an INVITATION TO AN INTERVIEW WITH A CITIZENSHIP OFFICIAL AND VERIFICATION OF IDENTITY/DOCUMENTS, The letter to attend a Teams interview for myself and my 3 children, We are also asked to submit our passport/travel documents during the eligibility period not later 2days before the interview.

What caught my attention is that everyone has a different interview time, all my kids are below 16 years ( 15 Years, 13 years, and 8 years). If anyone has an idea of what to expect or any insight on how to get ready that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Are these times all consecutive? I don't know for certain, but my gut would be that effectively they've just booked enough time for all and don't have a way to book 'longer' interviews.

If I'm right, the officer might review the docs for each and perhaps at most ask each kid to stick their head in front of the camera for a minute.

And strongly doubt they'd ask the kids to speak for themselves or be on the call without parents.

You could try calling IRCC to find out - it's possible they don't even want the kids to be there, it's just a block of time for the whole family.

If they've booked four different online things with completely different times though, then I've no idea.

Yes, times are consecutive, I will start then followed by my kids. each person has a 30 minutes allotted time.

Yeah, my hunch is still that they'll confirm whatever docs you send them beforehand, and unless there's something seriously problematic, or a lot of questions, it'll mostly be ask a few questions, check against ID, and maybe have the kids pop their heads in to say hi and confirm they exist/look somewhat like their photos.

My suggestion would be to have them somewhere not too far away during the thing. The officer might call them in at any time and I wouldn't be surprised if you're done a lot faster than the two hours allotted.

hey, did you do the interview? what were the questions about? I got similar request and kinda concerned as none of my family or friends recieve such notice before...

Hey how was the interview what kind of question did you I got , I got the same letter

Received the same letter, we are a family of 4, kids are 12 and 15 years old. Wife received separate letter with same meeting time and login details as mine on Teams.

Here is exactly how it went:

  • We were all 4 present during the same Teams call (we were outside Canada in fact, visiting family, no issues at all - officer just asked when we will be back in Canada and noted it down)
  • Officer told us kids did not have to be present, however they can stay in call if we chose to, so we asked them to stay.
  • Was very friendly - just a document verification.
  • Asked to show our passport bio-pages and PR cards (for all 4 of us) on camera and also my expired passport (so make sure you have that with you).
  • Then asked me to show my ON drivers licence.
  • Then asked wife to do exactly the same.
  • Asked to verify our current employers.
  • Asked to verify our current home address.
  • Asked if we have any outstanding legal issues in any countries.
  • Explained to us that she has now also assessed language during the call and that all open items on tracker will show green in about 2 business days (took a week, maybe due to holidays)
  • Explained the ceremony process and that we will either receive in an person or virtual invite.
  • Asked if we had any questions?
  • Took about 10 minutes in total.
That was it - nothing to be concerned about.

Tips:
  • Make sure you have reliable internet connection with a laptop or PC with a good camera.
  • Well lit room.
  • Relax!

Its seems from research that interviews are selected randomly and are more likely when kids are involved in the application - which makes sense.

How come they gave you the options of Teams outside Canada but are forcing me to visit IRCC office? Feels like I'm being singled out ffs.

They did not know we were outside Canada until we told them, during the Teams call. If the meeting was in person, we would have had to ask for a new meeting date. If you have background passed, you should not have any concern for the in person meeting. In my opinion.

Yeah background is passed.
