I hope so cic website should get updated tommorow ???

Seems like tons of ppl applied in month of October to avoid conditional PR. CIC plz hire more employees.

jsus chrst...another update and no change.

Applications are being processed every day, and applicants are getting all sorts of progress, although the dates have not changed, I am sure they have gone past October 8, 2012 and are still processing new applications every day.

Even though, the date has not changed, I am sure everyone's apps are moving forward. Just check the 2012 Inland applications and you'll see most of the October applicants have been granted Stage 1 Approval.

Do not lose faith.

Cheers!

Guys I need help! I'm a registered nurse here in Alberta and gone to an interview for a position at AHS, I'm in as far as the manager is concerned but of course CIC has the last say as to wether they'll grant me a work permit or not.

Anyway my current work permit is restricted to Capital Health in Halifax and doesn't expire until November of this year. I figured if I applied and CIC started processing stage 1 on march, my OWP will be more or less issued September/October. I guess my question is once we get our OWP, what happens to our SIN number? Can we get a permanent one or do we just renew our temporary one?

Is there anyone in here who has the same case as mine? Who was granted a work permit while waiting for an OWP? I'm starting to panic because this is the only hospital in the city where I'm at and I'm afraid there wouldn't be a position for me by the time I get my OWP.

Your SIN remains the same. Until your status changes to permanent resident, you retain the same temporary SIN (even if you left Canada and came back 10 years later). When you become a PR, then you get a shiny new SIN without a '9' at the front OR an expiration.

You cannot work for a new employer without a new work permit (it sounds like you know this). Unless you qualify to work without an LMO (e.g., you're from a country with which Canada has a bilateral agreement, such as Chile, US or Mexico) then you'd need to wait for that LMO before you could apply. That's likely to take about the same amount of time as getting your OWP.

:'( I guess I gotta say goodbye to that position then. It's just that I've been wanting to work for Alberta Health Services ever since. :(

Does anyone applying Open Work Permit with their Inland PR applications in this forum ?

Thanks,
Pritha

@mrsc08,

My Alberta Health Services will expire on 19 June 2013, hopefully I will get "Sponsor Approval" before 19 June, otherwise I have to stay healthy and re-apply after I receive it I think :(

@deedeedar

What's AOR then? I was looking at your timeline and all the while I thought AOR means the sponsor was already approved. What do you mean by my AHS will expire on June? Did you mean their website sending jobs in our email everyday? Cause I also received an email but mine said until June 30..

Anyhow, yes you're right.. We need to keep posted on their job opportunities until we are able to get a OWP. They already gave me an offer letter and date of orientation but I don't feel positive that CIC will approve an LMO for me :(

I'm so confused! Ok so again, I submitted our application on March 7, my hubby then received an email saying they have received our application to sponsor me as a permanent resident on March 8.... Is that the AOR?? Does AOR come first before sponsorship approval? Or the other way around? If its the other way around, do we get an AOR AFTER finding out our sponsors are approved and that our application has been sent/transferred to the visa office of our choice?? Please can someone kindly clarify this to me.. TIA :)
