Random question someone may know the answer to:

If I for some reason don't get my DM anytime soon (just got AIP today), but I get my OWP, am I legally allowed to leave and re-enter the country, even though my application is still processing, or will they give me a hard time upon re-entry?
My sister is getting married in March, and I definitely *need* to go!

OWP doesn't give you permission to leave Canada. The expectations that you remain in Canada still stands. However that being said, having an OWP from a visa exempt country does give you strength in allowing you back but still carry risk of denied back in. I am not endorsing this but there have been people on timesheets that have OWP and are able to re-enter Canada without any issues. They accepted the risks involved. If you want to go visit your sister, you have to be aware of the risk and accept the consequences of this action.

Thanks for the updating! Though I really really really hoped to get AIP and DM at the same time, I didn't have confidence to get them. Yes, I'm still excited. Now I'm waiting that my e-cas will be changed.

So by the time you land, you would qualify for health care shortly after. Wouldn't want you to wait another 3 months after landing. Assuming quebec has the 3 month residency requirement.

I just wanted to send my CONGRATULATIONS to all of you who have recently received AIPs and DMs! Although I still have my fair share of waiting to do, I feel more hopeful every time I read good news on this forum. I can only imagine the joy and relief you must all be feeling, and again, I just wanted to share my congratulations. Best of luck to you all on your new journey as Canadian PRs! Hey guys, Glad to see all the positive messages! Congrats to those who are getting to the end of this process.

My husband received another letter for an interview date with CBSA, at the back there is information about PRAA but there wasn't an application included. We are a Dec 2012 applicant and based on the CIC website we should here about AIP by next month as the processing times are showing 11months. My question is, should the PRAA application have been included in the letter they sent or will he be given it at the interview? Also because we have our application in process is it advisable for him to apply to allow us more time to hear back about the AIP? We were already given a deferral due to the application being in process and then it seemed they extended it when the backlog affected the original 6month processing time.
