i have a question guys....i've lived in america most of my life...will i be able to get my prints done in canada and sent to the FBI? thank you!

Hi, islandgirl25! Yes, you can go to your local police office, RCMP office, or Commissionaires. Get them done on a fingerprint card and get at least 3 sheets of them done. Good luck.

You will get a separate letter in the mail about the application process being completed. And you will either get a letter or call from your local CIC office about landing. I got a call from an IO but that is just because we have a small office. You will more than likely be contacting by letter. So you have two more letters coming your way.

I agree and disagree. Yes there is a good likely hood that you will get approved for both the longer it takes but several have gotten approved for both very quickly as well. It is all dependant on the IO and individual cases themselves. Just like it took me 10 months and 2 days to get ONLY AIP but within two more days I had the second stage approved for so you just never know. Only time will tell.

With that saying though, I do sincerely hope that most do get approved for both at the same time. Keep your heads up and stay strong. ;D

worth to wait a little bit more, so i wont be getting a temporary SIN?

If someone can help me with this. I submitted my inland Sponsorship May 12, 2011 and didn't include a police clearance from my home country ( for some reason I read prior to sending my application that I dont need to get one from my home country since I've been here in Canada for the last 3 years but i think I got it wrong coz I checked again the checklist and it clearly states on the Appendix A saying otherwise)

So my question is do I have to send both the Finger Prints Request letter and the Request for Police Certificate to my home country where I stayed for the past 10 years?

If I understand your question correct...No you don't send both the Finger Prints Request letter and the Request for Police Certificate to your home country where you stayed for the past 10 years. You use the fingerprints request letter "http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/PC_LetterB_e.pdf"at RCMP to obtain your fingerprints which you then send along with letter "Appendix A, Request for police certificate "http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5527AB_E.pdf" to your home country (mostly Interpol police department, cic website has instructions on where to mail that package too)

Now, if you want to be 2 steps ahead of cic, you can go ahead and get your criminal/ refugee check done by RCMP. http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/resources/manuals/bulletins/2009/ob116.asp Be sure to read this link for details. You might need a letter from cic in order to have this done, but you could be sleek about it and have them do it without presenting the letter. Your best bet without cic letter would be having them done at commissionaires rather than at RCMP. If you go to commissionaires, be sure to mention to them that it's for PR application, and have them mail the paper results directly to you, which you then send to Vegreville. This process doesn't take long. It's the first process I described in my first paragraph that could be a big hustle depending on the countries you need to get police certificates from or your home country.

No, go get a temporary SIN now with your OWP. Otherwise you will have to wait for over two months to get your PR card before you can get a SIN and then work. Best to get your temporary SIN now then when you get your PR card, go back to get your permanent SIN.

Your welcome! I assume that's why RCMP check is not in the document check list. I would say it doesn't hurt to have one done though coz you never know! For some unlucky ones like me, had I read threads like this before I applied, I would have done it anyways. That way, I probably would never have been asked for it down the road like they did. But again, who knows how cic works, I have heard of cases where people are asked to submit the same documents more than once like medicals, police check et.c. I strongly believe that sometimes they just need reason to prolong a case, God knows why!!

Yep, I know what you mean. I would just like to mention that if people go ahead and request their RCMP checks that they have their fingerprints done digitally. As it takes only 72 hours to get the results back from that. If you do them just ink then it can take 4 months.
Helping CIC out to make your process smoother and faster is never a bad thing.

I get the same answer from them when I call but it sounds like bull to me.

They also say everything is correct and they will not request anything else etc so what's the hold up? Do you really believe it is just a matter of putting the file together and giving the 2nd stage approval? Hard to believe. There's gotta be something behind it.

Have you ever ordered FOSS notes? Do you think it delays the appl. ordering it?

I justordered my FOSS last week. I want to finda out when my BFD will be. I was going to order them a month ago but I did not because I was also wory that doing so might delay the process, but I found online that It wouldn't so I finally requested them las week.

I don't know is just bull or not, but I want to believe it 'cause it's been sooooo soooo long.

When did you get your AIP, and when did you send the las documents?

My medicals and police checks were sent in with my original application. Do you think I will get both stages at the same time?
