It is funny how this whole info about work permit gets so confusing sometimes. when i applied in the first place i didn't know that i could send the application for the OWP together with my inland application..(by the way i haven't found a single line in the CIC website that talks about it)......so i didn't do it....then i found this forum and there were some people that told me on this forum that you could send it later putting the phrase "do not process until AIP" ...some other people on this forum said it was not possible to send it at a later date before AIP....so i called the call centre...and what did the lady tell me on the phone? "NO SIR YOU CANNOT SEND AN OWP APPLICATION BEFORE AIP. If you didn't enclose it in your original application then you have to wait for AIP to apply".....confusing and senseless bureucracy......
anyway, i was approved for 1 st and 2 nd stage together but i don't have a work permit, so i will wait for my landing interview. don't feel like spending 150 dollars now, do more papers and wait for a month anyway.....Cheers!!! ;D ;D ;D

Well I think that is probably more of a recommendation than a rule. Usually if you already have valid status you won't have a problem extending it anyway so it isn't really needed to send in an OWP during the process anyway. I think the reason it isn't recommended is because it can get lost and also because they may actually refuse it so it can confuse IO's. It really is just better to send it with the initial submission or after though. Also, it is true that you can't really find where it talks about sending in an OWP with the application. Which you think they would. Well I guess that is why the advice on here so important though. To find out things you wouldn't have found on your own.

tita I am sorry. You must have given me the date August 1st for when your application was received because that is when I have it down.
Does e-Cas actually say it was received on July 31st or August 1st?

Oh okay do not worry about it. Just wanted to make sure I had the right thing. I will update it very soon and you are welcome. Haha that makes like the 5th or 6th time I have had that recommendation. they started processed in october 2010 but i dont remember the date, i would give to you later, is betwen my tons of papers, and yes enjoy the long weekend with your love!

just phone the cic this afternoon they say call again after 2 weeks and the told me that they currently openning april 14 additional info. our add info sent last May 2 yes i makes sense thats y they told me to phone them again .. im hoping will get my aip after 2 weeks ....

Thanks LY for the chart update - Just looking at it I am starting to get nervous!!!!

I just hope I will get a decision while spouse is home (he works on the rigs doing 14 on 7 off) so it would be so special to have him home to celebrate with me but at the end of the day I will be happy to have overcome this hurdle in our relationship. We both would love to get married and start a family but as we have no family support in BC (his from quebec and im from Australia) we wanted to make sure all my paperwork was in order before going into the next stage of our life together. That and trying to organize a wedding and co ordinate the two families getting together was just way too stressful.

OMG, they are already working on July 31.

That is awesome. They just updated it on Thursday saying July 25. I forecast another 12 day jump for next week's update.
O.k., so maybe not 12 days as I forgot they will be closed on Monday. Maybe it is true what they say how they do not get as many applicants in the summer.

I wonder if smishsmash and isabela got approved yet?

Big, big congratulations to Love Young!!! I am really happy you! I haven't come here for a while so that time can go a little faster. Great to see they're moving to August apps. My wife's app still a long way down though - about another 5 months. May everyone have a happy ending after all the anxious wait.

I have to disagree on the work permit issue with you guys. Was it you, Angtao, who did not send it in yet? My personal experience is that you will waste 150$, it will not get attached to your application and you have to apply again after you have AIP. I know 2 people who sent it after the original application, both of theirs were returned with a letter saying that you are not allowed to send the OWP later, you must wait the AIP. They did not get their money back. I recommend to wait for the AIP and send it in- it is about a month to get your OWP if you send it immediately. I know, it sucks and is a stupid rule but seems to me that they are pretty firm on this.
