Do you guys think that... CIC call center knows your phone number and only answers selected phone calls ?

Honestly I don't think so. Just try again! I had to call CIC two times, the first time was around 15 mins waiting, not too bad. The second time was around 30 mins, which was worse. However, I got through all two times.

i dont think they only answer selected phone calls, i just spoke to an agent this morning, i had to wait for about 20 minutes but they took my call, and I am glad that the woman agent i spoke with was very helpfull and polite :), the last i called i spoke with a male agent and sounded rude and cranky.

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how to cancel an open work permit (OWP) application and refund the $150 processing fee?

I sent my OWP 35 days ago. I was not expecting AIP, DM and landing to come very soon. So now, I'll be landing on Oct 15 (next week). But they have not sent my owp yet. Based on CIC website, it currently takes 75 days to process OWP. So by the time I land on Oct 15, my OWP is only on it's 40th day in CIC so maybe they have not processed it yet. Therefore, I would like to cancel if after I land on Oct 15 and get a possible refund.

Does anyone know the process for canceling OWP? thanks.

You send a letter to Vegreville and clearly state on the outside "Application withdrawal request". Then inside write a letter stating your name, UCI, and asking them to withdraw the work permit application.

Note that even if you do nothing, they won't process your OWP application, because by the time they get to it, you won't be eligible for it. Only foreign nationals can have work permits, and since you will be a permanent resident, you aren't eligible for one.

Congratulations on completing the process!

Hi everyone,
My hubby received a letter on 18th of Sept that he is eligible to sponsor me which I surmise is AIP but along we also received a letter to redo my medical as it was done way before I filed my application. My question is can I apply for OHIP at this stage?? If Yes then how?

no you can not. Me and my wife tried to apply for ohip after the first stage approval they told her to wait til second stage approval. I know ohip is very important for my wife. I rather have her ohip first work permit later as i work 17 hrs a day and take care of my beloved. We are still waiting for 2nd stage approval. We applied october 24th 2011 got the 1st stage approval august 2012 after that nothing :(

If you were asked for the police clearance then it sounds like they are working on the second stage. I will pray for you.

Thanx

Thanks. I'm just patiently (or impatiently) waiting for LA to return my passport and the COPR (I ended up going through the outland process).

My own work permit renewal is also in process and I'm expecting to land before they get around to processing it, so that is why I had to research how to withdraw the work permit application. Once I've got the COPR back, I'll ask to withdraw the work permit application. They even refund the $150 fee!

hey nonoo

YES you can get it! all you have to do is take your identifications and your AIP letter as proof, and make sure to go to a government based service ontario because some are private and they don't know. they will fill in the forms for health card (ohip) it'll take 3 months to get it from the date of the letter. I've done it myself too. so go to service Ontario and apply!
