Indian Passport Renewal from BLS Toronto

Hi Durango_xx,

How did you contact the consulate? Is there a phone number? I could not find anything other than raising a concern on Sampark.

CGI Toronto has a monthly consular camp, which they meet face to face with people who have OCI, Surrender Certificate, Attestation and Passport issues. The recent camp was on the 23 Apr in Brampton, and you can check their facebook page for when they plan on having the next one. Not the best I would say, as the representatives come there with no equipment (laptops), and just their pens and phones. I expected more...hence there could be no immediate resolution to issues, just their word that they would work on it, or in case of many others that there's nothing they could do to solve the issue as it was someone else within CGI Toronto whose responsibility it was, and who was not present at the camp.
Its the 3rd working day since i met them, and my issues still remain unresolved....

Hi,
My status says "Passport has been printed".
I hope to receive my new passport soon. However, I would like to know if they send the old passport as well (mine is postal application, so sent original old passport along with application) and it is important that I have the old one since the passport contains my US visa (valid for next 7 years or so.

They would send your old passport stapled together with the new one. Mine also had US visa valid for next 8 years.

Anyone knows how much time it takes to receive passport after status is changed to "Passport has been printed".

Hello, I haven't seen a lot of "passport application has been granted" status after police verification. Has anyone experienced this? If so how much longer for the passport to be printed? I have a flight on the 31st of May. Was wondering if I will be able to get my passport by then? Any help/guidance will be much appreciated.

The status on passport seva website was “Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate” on Apr 22 and I have not yet received an email about police verification. It has been 10 days after this status. I could see the file number in inspect mode on Apr 23 itself. Any idea by when should I receive the email? Any one else in similar situation?

This may not apply for you but maybe for others who have been waiting for PV - it is advisable to check whether the PV details on the email you received has the right local police office of the address you provided. The Embassy here made a mistake and send my son's and daughter's application to the District Level SP Office, where it sat for 27 days till the mistake was realized. As per my discussion with the CGI Consul (Mr. Munjal), CGI Toronto normally waits 30 days till a 'proper PV is initiated', and if no PV is done by the SP Office, they go ahead and issue the passport. In my son's and daughters case the 'proper PV' was only issued on day 28, and now they either wait for the PV to be done to issue the passport, or 30 days of no updates, which will be total of 3 months since we applied for the passports.
Incase you do find an error the in the SP Office details please notify CGI Toronto immediately, as the SP Office will not act on anything they consider incorrect.

It says "Application Granted on No verification basis". Does it mean CGI considered no PV is required? How much more time it would take from "Print initiated" to receive passport now?

Yes, it means Police verification will not be conducted. Its similar to my elder son's case. Passport was printed for him 11 days later & then 3-4 working days for it to reach BLS & then 1 day for purolator delivery.
